Real quick question. Do you guys pre-drill the screws that hold your sub in the box?

Yep, helps prevent the wood from splitting. Mind you its not a big hole, maybe just a bit smaller than the core of the screw. Just enough to relieve the pressure from the wood.

I don't predrill the mounting holes for the sub, I just get them with screws and it doesn't split.

I predrill all screw holes on the box. Comes out much nicer in the end.

^x2...I always have used anchors and machined screws...so you can take them in and out without eventually tearing up the wood

predrilling FTW, slipping off a screw and puncturing a surround FTL.

I have used Tnuts and they work well....however, 2 things to mention about those.
If they don't grab into the wood properly your screwed. (Not in a good way) And if they come loose when its time to take the sub out...you're screwed again unless you don't mind trashing the box.
Otherwise they are good stuff.

x2...its really bad when they come loose...thats why I use the anchors instead (theyre called insert nuts at the depot/lowes) and I cover them in jb weld before hammering them in...they simply cant move unless you really %$#@ sumthin up..:) works great

Please pre-drill if you aren't already, because all it takes is that one time that you duff it off the top of the screw and puncture a surround or a cone. I did it once a few years ago and haven't not predrilled since. Hasn't happened since either.
