I need to make a new box,
my old box is 5^ft and the port is 70 square inches and 13 long and it is tuned to 45hz.

this box was made for SQ. I am using one 15 and it hits on average 141db in a sq box so I would love to hear it in a spl box.

the sub is a DD9515e

any ideas would be awesome

I would say a box tuned that high is a SPL box. Most SQ boxes are tuned around the high 20's to low 30's.

6-7 cubes...tuned higher, around 45 - 55hz or so.

I've hurd that the 9515 peak box size is 15^ft after that it won't get any louder.

What vehicle are you using for this? And how much room are you willing to give up?

I am driving a 1989 ford thunderbird and am willing to give up everything behind the driver and passenger seats including the trunk.

I already have torn everything out and have a 5^ft box(with pics) there but it's just not hitting loud enough.

i would say if you got room, build around a 9-11cuft box ported to 50-56hz depending on the res. frequency of your car. you will slam out some nice #'s that way. also, how much power you feeding that sucker?

How much power do you have running yours?

5.00^ft (1) 15"(2) 12"(3) 10" 75.00 sq" vent x 13" long tunes to 45Hz (is what DD is recommends for a high efficient 15".

Personally, I would go with something around 7-10 cubes.

well there is your answer my man your sending that sub around 400 per coil. you spent at least 400 on the pair unless you got a hell of deal am i right??? man that's pathetic no offense but your running a Serious SPL hungry mad as hell wanting more power than most can feed it woofer and your running sony?? the saying goes your system is only as good as 2 things 1) your equipment and 2)your knowledge. i would say get new amps before you re-do the box man. how much do you have to spend i can promise you there is a 1ohm stable amp out there that will better serve your purposes. hell if you can afford 285 get yourself a American Bass Cx 1200D 1ohm 1200watts stackable so you can get a 2nd one and strap em together and give that thing close to 2.5kw or more if you have a 240+alternator.

if you want cheap look into a lanzar d3000m or something. they put out some serious wattage for the money.

but with big amps you might have to upgrade your electrical system...

I dont know what comes stock in an 89 Thunderbird...but the electrical system will need to be upgraded with a high power/high current amp, no questions asked:)

That's probably one of your problems now anyways...you're probably sucking around 112 amps with 1000 watts and a (guesstimate) 65% efficient amp.

I don't know much about current draw and stuff like that.
I just know how to install stuff and make it look nice.

(but I do have 0 gage wire from front to back)

check the tsunami db1100d's 1100 at 1 ohm strappable with no external module
www.edesignaudio.com has them for 260 USD.

also to look at

memphis
crossfire might have to do this used to get them at that price

for that money youmight be able to snag a used viper 2500d

memphis ***** unless your talking the mojo and then it'll cost you at least 700 and you can find better. i say get a pair of maybe the amps i have like suggested before www.nexxon.com has a sale right now 285 a piece and i love my amp. that sub is dual 2ohm coil config so get a pair of those if you want strap em and burp it at 1ohm strapped. your going to need at least a 250-300 amp alternator to run anything over 1500 watts reliably though.

I would like a strapble amp so I can burp the sub at 1ohm

the cheapest price I can find for a viper 2500D is $2,600 I think thats like 1,999.99 us

I will chek out the nexxon site.

has anyone hurd the DD amps in person?

i mean he will need a 250-300amp alt if he wants to run anything like the Ab cx1200's or a memphis mojo, or a crossfire 2000d. if you think about it he will need at least that b/c almost every good SPL amp is rated at 14.4volts. and to hold 14.4volts with over 2kw or more of power you need at least 250amp alt.

i sure hope you are talking daily or mayb even usaci competitons. as with street in drag the car is not running so the batt takes the full brunt or the deal.
