I'm not sure if this is the place for this kind of stuff...if not mods feel free to delete it

I figured I could post up some pics of my installs in the old SPL truck I built, and show off some of my installs of the past :)

This is what the truck looked like when my dad gave it to me....minus the wheels

Dad bought it new in 87

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c294/teamsubgopoof/before.jpg

Here is the story behind the reason I decided to cut it out.

My first system was 2 L7 10s and a kicker zr240...bought it when I just turned 16. The first year the Solos went square...anyway...

kid at my school had 2 crossfire p1 12s and a 1000d...and mine was 2x louder then him, even in small sealed boxes that me and my mom built.

He went and switched out the p1s for bmfs...i added another zr240...still louder them him, so he gets mad takes his rear seat out of his ext cab silverado and does 4 15s and 2 crossfire 1000ds....and i was done with him until he started taunting me and called me a ***** and said I couldnt' get any louder because I didn't have any more room....which led me to this...

http://memimage.cardomain.com/member_images/1/web/301000-301999/301505_5.jpg

notice the super pimp single layer baffle...this was my reasoning...."all the pressure will be on the rest of the box (which was double layered) so it won't matter if the face is just single layered because there will be no pressure on it"....yeah right....LMAO the baffle moved more then the subs!

With the ****** entry level eclipse HU! THIS THING NEVER SKIPPED! even when I wrecked the truck twice...never missed a beat. Not bad for 100 bucks haha

I don't even know what to say about this install lmao

I guess i'll also include some pics of installs from my crew, this is my buddy Anthonys s10, we cut his truck out the same night we did mine.

Just to show you how old these pics are...these are the FIRST run of SEs and 35.1s. He had 2 15s on 2 35.1s, ***** wanged hard haha

Never got finished though :(

There is a small gap of pics here....

After the 12 10s in the silverado, the motor blew up in it and it just sat in my yard for A LONG time. Hell I thought it was just an ugly grandpa looking truck!

So I bought a 94 explorer off of one of my buddies and did a couple of installs in it

http://memimage.cardomain.com/member_images/1/web/301000-301999/301505_50.jpg

started off with 2 DD 3512s and 2 bmf 1000ds....did a 152.1 in usac...not bad but I knew i had more in it...

rebuilt with 2 crossfire bmf 15s and 2 re 35.1s...did a 154 in this setup....

http://memimage.cardomain.com/member_images/1/web/301000-301999/301505_56.jpg

http://memimage.cardomain.com/member_images/1/web/301000-301999/301505_55.jpg

I used the same enclosure to set a world record in USAC back in 2003 with 2 DD 9515s and 2 35.1s

TSGP
08-09-2008, 03:43 AM
After I set the record in USAC we decided to put more focus into Anthonys truck, rebuilt it for 4 SE 15s and 2 35.1s...this thing GOT OFF would do a 149 ANYWHERE in the truck, at almost ANY frequency up to 50 hz....it was incredibly musical and threw down some low notes (i miss this install)

as I was driving the explorer my dad got the motor and trans rebuilt in the silverado for me....so I decided to keep working on it.

Remember all this is happening when I'm 17 or 18. I had NO CLUE about bandpass setups but I figured I'd give it a try lmao

http://memimage.cardomain.com/member_images/1/web/301000-301999/301505_63.jpg

http://memimage.cardomain.com/member_images/1/web/301000-301999/301505_64.jpg

was built for 6 Visonik 12s and 2 crossfire 1000ds. Sounded like total *******!!!!! Played 65 hz like a champ though!

And of course since I didn't know about bandpass I didn't realize I could have just added depth or made the port smaller and got louder, also the sealed chamber was double that of the ported chamber, I didn't have a clue lmao...its funny to look back on old installs like this and laugh at yourself

I was still daily driving the explorer during all this...went to meca finals in kentucky, on the way home a friend that went with us was drinking...and started mouthing off and I don't even remember what he said to me but I wanted to beat his *** right then....so i jerked HARD to the side going to get out and drag him out of the car, and I guess I pulled too hard....

hit about 20 fence posts

well after I wrecked the explorer I went back to daily driving the grandpa white truck that I HATED, i didn't want to have anything to do with it.

My girlfriend (who i'm still with) started talkign about wanting to do something in her 2000 Hyundai Sonata...so I called in some favors to some friends I had made.

2 Brahma MKII (i think) 15s I got for 150 each from a friend in Memphis, and 2 american bass 1200.1s for 125 each from a friend in West Virginia...so 300 dollars in 2 brahma 15s and 2 1200 watt amps haha

was HARD to fit a big box in there but I got it.

7 cubes tuned to like 30 hz because I couldn't get enough port area

you can also see I had to literally DROP KICK the box to get it in the trunk

well after awhile the brahmas just got worn out (they were almost gone anyway thats why I got them so cheap)

so I replaced both of them with a DD 9515, still using the 1200.1s

that setup BANGED in that little car, 145s on the dash and the whole car wanted to explode. I don't know what I did but that was the loudest thrown together install I've ever done haha

Well she called me up and told me it broke her windshield playing throw it up....I laughed and thought she was joking with me. Then she comes to the house later on and I see it....i thought it was great...she was pissed

This was the first year that Street A was offered in dbdrag, so I decided to give it a shot. Went to finals and would have came in 5th if the cd changer wouldn't have jumped out of the console lol.

This was the loudest box I built for the 2 DD 9910s

http://memimage.cardomain.com/member_images/1/web/301000-301999/301505_159.jpg

http://memimage.cardomain.com/member_images/1/web/301000-301999/301505_161.jpg

With the 2000d it would do a 150.2. Changed out to a rockford T3000 and did some changes to the box and got it doing a 152.8. Would do a 151.1 with 1 10 in a different box.

Put a panasonic changer in the console

http://memimage.cardomain.com/member_images/1/web/301000-301999/301505_162.jpg

While I had it torn out I had a 4 wheeler wreck and almost died, Tore my rotator cuff and couldn't do ANYTHING.

I live in Russellville, the shop I help out during spare time is in Florence.

To get to Russellville...come on I65 North, take the Cullman/157 exit.

Come toward Moulton, take a right at highway 24 and come a few miles and you're here. I live right on Highway 24.

To get to Florence, stay on 65 north, and take the highway 72 athens exit and stay on 72...runs right into Florence....right next to Steve Cooks shop :)

We (my dad and I) own a heating and air business.

Figure this up...we charge 65 dollars for a service call + parts.

And we can do 10+ service calls a day and still have plenty of calls for the next day.

Or we do a changeout, we usually make between 1500-2500 dollars per changeout depending on how labor intensive it is.

The money is there, just have to bust your *** to make it

Ive got a set of 20's from my old Expy if your interested. From what I can tell, yours is that odd emerald green color, so Im not sure how black and machined wheels would look on it. The one thing I did like about it was the extra low resonant frequency. Nothing I had in it peaked over 45 hz.

Yeah these things are hard to get loud on the meter for some reason and they peak super low.

I was looking at getting it painted, but since I found that other truck I'm not sure if I am or not...I might leave it stock just to not draw a lot of attention to it and use it as a daily cruiser.

And have the truck to really pimp out and put money into

My favorite is the Ia subs or the mt's. They all look good though. you do some great work. I like the alien trick too.

You are supposed to sleep and then eat breakfast though . :D

haha no they weren't in series, that would have been like 90+ volts lol

They were all paralleled together, then each row was paralleled with 4 runs of 0 gauge between them

Do you guys carry the underground stuff at the shop? A friend of mine is trying to get a nav unit and a simple upgrade on the doors and get a few subs, I think he got a quote on a d3 and I am assuming the cheapest memphis subs and doors and some little amp for about 1700.. He lives pretty close, figured if he was going to spend that much though you might be able to get him something a little better.

Then after all that...I was getting ready to rebuild it again...and had all the equipment out of it.

And someone came in my yard and decided to burn my truck :(

Came outside and this is what we saw

Fire marshall said someone threw gas on the dash, lit it on fire shut the door and left.

If the winshield hadn't been tinted, it would have broke the windshield and it would have burnt the ENTIRE truck down instead of just smoldered the dash and the wires.

And thats got me to where I am today

Any comments?

man that **** some people cant help but to hate, and be idiots.

Also...I bought another Silverado :)

I'm letting my friend drive it until he gets his Explorers transmission fixed but as soon as he gets it fixed I'm gonna start on it.

Looking at doing 24 Nightshade 12s or or 15s, and 24 saz 1500s.

Not sure if I'm gonna do a bandpass again or just do a sealed/ported install.

But I am EXCITED to get started on another install
