Hello,

I'm new from Pennsylvania looking to build a decent system for my car. ive been reading threw the forum for about an hour now, and decided to sing up. You guys have alot of good, useful information.

Just got a couple questions. My car has 4 stock speakers. I would like to upgrade all of them, and get a amp, and then 2 - 12" subs for in the back. What kind of amp and how big would i need to power all of this? (how many channels?) I'm just looking for good could crisp sound. Can i get a good system using 2 - 4" speakers, 2 - 5.25" speakers and 2 - 12" subs for about $500 (For speakers, and amp all the wiring and whatnot?) I want to get a head unit with a 7" flip up screen. But i don't want that included in the $500 to spend on speakers and amp and stuff. I'll also be building this over time.

So what should i buy first? Can i use nice speaker with a crappy head unit? Or should i get the head unit first and then get all the speakers and such? Only asking this because 2 of my speakers are blown out, and 1 is quiet...

I have a 1997 Hyundai Accent GT. Will my battery and alternator be able to support all this? And i wanted to make my own box for the subs to fit nicely in the trunk. But then i started to read. How much will a custom box with no specific sizing or anything affect the sound? Will it be a huge noticeable difference?

And i listen to Rock, Heavy metal, Alternative. (Metallica, Disturbed, greenday) so i want it to be geared towards that kind of music if it matters. Not rap.

Sorry for all the questions. But this is somethign i really want to do, but don't know to much about it. but i plan on learning.

Thanks A LOT!
