you mean for a blow through? or for exterior use?

doing a blow through?

First buy a bed cover for your truck, THEN cover the box in bed lining material, the good stuff not the cheap spray on stuff from the auto parts store.

might want to ask if they make water proof subs first.....

X2

Make sure you build a box that has the subs inside of it though (i'm hoping this is obvious) for theft reasons and to keep the subs dry. Or mount the subs under the box.

the reason is my truck is a 87 c10 short bed regular cab.. i cant really fit my 10's behind the seat.. im not putting bedliner or a cover on the back, the beds inside is mint, what do you mean by putting the subs inside the box?

bonesninja
08-04-2008, 04:55 PM

its not for driving around, thats why i squeezed 10's behind the seat. but in my town we all hang out and see who has the loudest system.. thats what it would be for really.. doesnt take much to beat people in my town

you can put subs back there, but we are trying to tell you through sarcasm is that it will not be loud and will not sound good.

if you are trying to make it loud outside the vehicle, you are the person we dislike because you give the rest of us a bad rep.

I think "hanging out and seeing who has the loudest system" is being a douche bag. What's the point of having subs if you can't hear them in the vehicle anyways?

Ed Lester

Well it wont sound very good with the subs outside. You can use Pro Audio type drivers and build a box similar to concert speakers. But Car audio subs are designed to be used in confined spaces and can actually be damaged when used outside.

Build a bandpass out of wood, then coat the entire enclosure in fiberglass. Since it is a bandpass, the sub itself will not be exposed to the weather.

BTW, this was done alot in the 80s and is still done alot in Japan and south america.

so anyone that goes to compititions with a **** load of subs in the back of their truck with there little seal it up tonnel cover.. wtf is the point of that then kharps?

they have a blowthrough to the interior:fyi:

KHARPS

Because they cut out the back of the cab and the subs are either ported into the cab or the front part of the box actually sits in the vehicle.

dman4486

the box would be this with the opening on the right going into the cab

They basically make it into an SUV, or a big trunk.

I'm sure someone can find a picture for you. But I understand not wanting to cut up that truck...I've always wanted one myself. But either you're going to have to sacrafice the loud music inside the cab, or the value of your truck. Or just say f it and do what you want....who cares what anyone else thinks anyways, do what you want to do.

i suggest doing a bandpass enclosure if you are just using the subs in the back. just cover it in rhino liner or something similar and thoroughly silicone the inside.

KHARPS
08-04-2008, 05:15 PM
^ and I didn't mean that sarcastically either. If putting them in the bed is what you want to do then do it. But I would imagine they would be stolen pretty easily without a cover.

k

lmao this kids talking like he knows something

we've been telling you for the last 25 posts that a blow through design is what people use when they put subs in the bed, you do this so it makes the bed of your truck like a big layout for a box already. If you have a sub box in the bed of your truck with no hole cut through your cabin all your going to get is rattle, then if you stand outside your truck your only going to get bass and won't even hear anything, and it will still sound like crap because its not being fired into a sealed cabin.

can someone tell me what a bandpass is please? even if i had them in a box that i could put in and out.. by just unplugging them so i could throw them at home when i go to the city for the day or somthing..

a bandpass is where you have the subs completely enclosed in the box and the sound comes through the port.

If you dont know what a bandpass is then you better have someone else build it for you. They can be incredibly tricky to design correctly.

AND BTW...if you didn't know what a blowthrough was, I say good luck designing a bandpass.

its a box where the sub is on the inside of the box. if you go to best buy you can see the boxes made of plexi that have subs on the inside. those are bandpasses, but one of the many different ones though.
