Hello everyone I need to pick your brains. I recently purchased an Equinox with the U65 Pioneer 7 speaker stereo. It has a 8" sub in the passenger side cargo area, I would like to remove it and put in a JL8w3 and a JL 250/1. My main question is I don't know the exact airspace of the factory box. I'm going to remove it tonight and get some measurements. I think it is around .5 cuft. Would it be ok to attach a new face made out of mdf and then mount my sub through the trim panel to the mdf? Do you guys think that the plastic box will withstand a better sub or do I need to make a new box out of mdf? Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks Shane

The JL8 might not needa new box, couldnt hurt tho. take the old box out, post pics, and you will get more help that way.

It should be fine the way you talk about installing it... it is made of some pretty thick plastic...if you have unwanted resonances you can add modeling clay or something to dampen the enclosure.. but it should work just fine...

I've been wanting to see this stock location and box and have been searching all over the web for images. You take any pics of it?
