i had a rattle in my roof near the windshield and my friend suggested expanding foam. so last nite i went over to his house and he took down the sunvisor and sprayed some thru the holes that it mounts and let it sit over nite and now that sound is gone, but now with my 18 i peak at like 50hz and when i burp it or play a song near the peak freq there is another rattle

For him he may have messed it up breaking it in. Really depends on how much you play it. I gave myself 3 weeks because I don't drive a lot.

i spent about 6-8hrs breaking in my sdc2.5s (i spend about 4-5hrs a week just on driving to work). So it took about a week for me counting all driving i did.

When breaking them in i kept the ssf pretty high (i think around 37-40hz) and gave them 3/4 of their rms set with a dmm.

btw i had patients when i went through the breaking in process and the breaking in process is really important cuz my friend with the hdc3 15 put it to full tilt like in less than a week and ended up fuckin it up.

for about 6 hours of PLAYING TIME dont play music with crazy bass lines just listen to music youd hear on the radio and just keep the bass to a min-to wear you hear a lil and the sub barely moves

because what ppl dont know is this bishes will get LOW in a low tuned box BUT in a box tuned to 40 hertz they do get low and alot louder but not a LOW as a lower tuning..

Its kinda weird what im tryin to say by..hmm

30-35hz they get super LOOWWW

37-42hz they'll get low BUT it will have better SPL

just play tones somewhere between 40hz-50hz, i usually start at 40hz let it play for 3sec then goto that next one and have the meter on peak hold, then after the score doesnt go up anymore let the batts charage and play the note u did your highest score at

a lil update: everything goin well...havent touched my system in a while and i kept it from clippin. I mostly been touchin up my ride. Ill post pics up.

so just now i updated my ipod n while i was listenin to the tunez i went to go mess wit my system at low volume. gains right now all up all tha way with my knob up all the way too. (the volume goes nearly 90% b4 it starts clippin btw)

i was playing with my LPF setting (at 80 right now) turned it up and it got noticeably louder at that low volume....so..................wtf

(I dont exactly how the LPF setting works) so if anyone can help me out, ill appreciate it.

Should i turn my LPF to like ~120~ and lower my knob
If i turn up my LPF i can even lower the gains and leave my knob up

if you are talking about setting your lpf on the sub to 150 i wouldnt do it otherwise you are going to start getting words and other notes the sub isn't meant to duplicate. I always keep my sub LPF between 50-80 depending on what equipment I am running and the quality of the subs and amp. Just my .02

A SoundStream XXX10000 @ 1 ohm...so around 5000 watts depending on voltage...all trunk, small port area, tuned low, sealed up, on the dash...meh, it's ok :)

The reason it sounds louder is your are letting in mid bass.The LPF is just that a filter that stops anything but low notes from passing.Hence the reason for SUB woofer.Keep it on the 80.Other then that awesome ride!Fellow WJ owner myself doing mid 50's with a wall.:)

I'd worry more about the LPF on the amp then the headunit. Setting it at 80 will be fine. and changing the headunit to 80 if the amp is already at 80 isn't really going to make a difference.

I had the bass boost put on the amps for guys who think they need it. I did limit the bass boost to 6db to protect inexperienced users from themselves.

You are better off to turn the volume up a hair.

there's something wrong is gain is at max and bass boost in on.

On your headunit setting, where does the SW output is? what's the rca output voltage from the deck?

Find the problem, shut the **** bass boost and reset your gain with a proper method. After all of that, i would lower the SSF to something like 20-25hz, but that's just me.

My box is tuned at 38hz and my ssf is a tad under 20hz. Never had problem, just watch what you play

honestly... couldnt tell... you need to hold the camera still for 5 secs when you're trying to focus in on something flexing... just looked like you were walking around the car....put some crap on the roof so we can see how well it flips around

I also have problems with my WJ sunroof rattling. Soon I will take that sucker apart and I will let you know how I fix the problem. For the most part the rest of my Jeep sounds pretty decent. I have the entire back end done with Ensolite and BXT II, zero sound coming from back there. I also have an issue with my rear view mirror rattling but ANT from Second skin told me to take it apart and put Damplifier on the surfaces. I will also let you know how this turns out. Nice looking 18" :)

I just open my sunroof lol and the rattle that comes from the rear is also annoying...it comes from the window on the hatch that pops open. Is scares me all the time cuz i think the sub blew

update: barely ever bump it as hard as I did when I first got it, everything still working running smoothly. My headunits connection is kind of annoying, restarts sometimes when I touch it. Wish I bought that steering wheel connection...is it expensive? I dont even know which one I need etc.
