Alright guy's i got two audiopipe 15s and i wanna build em a new box instead of going ported though i still wanna go sub's up. But instead of doing port back i wanna run aero-ports. Any suggestions on what type of tuning i should do & how many aero's i should do ? also this is going in a 1993 ford explorer. I appericate the help thx guys:).

aeroports are real easy to use as long as you calculate all your volumes correctly (like volume taken up by ports, etc.). is this pure SPL or just streetbeat? if its SPL I'd do 2 6" ports per sub (that'd be 4 total). They would be long as hell, but get so loud. If you're doing streetbeat do 1 6" per sub or 2 4" per sub.

It's still a daily driver but as far as bass goes anyway's i usually listen to bass tones , techno , rap & if it's not them i just turn off the sub's but my number with them in a ported box. I did a 140.3 i know can get em louder in a diffrent enclosure for sure. Anyone know if ionsql is still designing box plans?

Tuning stay the same. For the 15's i would at least do 1 six inch, or a pair of four inch. I would probably run 4 4 inch Aeros and tune to 32-33hz

here's an example of the impact the aeros SHOULD make. I ran a crystal compx2 15" slot ported and did 150 inside the port. I next ran a 12L7 with 2 4" aeros and did 156 inside the port. That's a big difference don't you think

In all honesty I think the only difference you will see is a bit more room to play with and a cleaner look overall. Some say aeros sound better too, but it's all up to you on sound. But aeros will take up less external space so you can make up for the space they take up with a bigger box. Also they look a bit cleaner if they are internal aeros IMO.

capitan cheesy could care how it looks man as long as it gets me up in numbers.:D.

Well then I would work on a better box design, not just going from slot port to aeros. If you want higher numbers you can try a bandpass possibly? Also play around and find the frequency your car peaks at and then tune your box to peak there. Resonance frequency can be your friend. I mean more power to you if you want to try aeros, but at most I think they will just save you space, and with an explorer you have plenty of space to work with.

i use carstereo.com's port calculator personally. works like a charm if I ever need it. Now since you wanna get loud but are still more of a streetbeat vehicle I'd say do either 4 or 6 4" aeros running along the bottom facing the rear of your truck and the subs facing up. Personally I'd do 6 aeros but to each their own. They can become quite expensive so if you only wanted to do 4, do four. And yes put them inside the box. That outside the box **** looks silly for daily drivers.

werd, 4th order or 6th order bandpass would rock. Even though you'd have to use a smaller driver(s) cause a bandpass for 2 15's would not logically fit in your vehicle

Yeah penn i didn't think bandpass would work for 2 15s. and as my vechile freq. it's 43to44hz i had mike ss audio help me find it out at the comp in taylor michigan:).

if you dont have a rear deck why even list that option in your sig?

you could easily just leave that out without an explanation

werd. I know a guy with a 6th order I believe with a single 18 and it is taking up the entire rear of his truck which is setup like a walk through. But a bandpass would get the numbers up. Also like I said, play around with some tones. See if someone has a TL or if a shop will let you play around with theirs for free or a small fee.

Well then mess around with box designs to peak around there. What about a horn design?

audiobahnuser18

I was thinkn a horn design but i've heard horns really not a fan of em much. idk why but i do like aeros:).
