I have the stock 150 amp alt for now, a g34 deka up front, and 2 g31's in the rear, and 2 runs of 1/0...I think I should be ok for now, what do you think?

and I might be getting a mecham or however its spelled 240 ho alt, do you think it will do. He says it will put out twice as much as stock, and I guess they are underrated

yeah I've never had a problem before...I predrilled everything, hopefilly those *****es dont come out...I didn't want this box budging. Everything is bondoed over, so if anything happens, hopefully the bondo will hold the screws in.

Its all smooth and the screws are all covered.I'm ready to prime and paint. I;m using satin paint, so If somethin does chip I can just cover it up with more paint...satin is the way to go.

I go to work at 8am and get done at 5, and I work on the build till midnight everyday. God its alot of work

I just meant with all those screws there's a greater chance of the bondo/primer lifting or sinking. Especially if it's hot/humid and you paint out in the garage.

Had that happen to me the other week even allowing 48 hours of drying time before painting. Bondo spots showed through the paint and it crackled/lifted in some places as the bondo apparently hadn't fully cured. Humidity *****...

What are yur box ideas. I think next spring I will build somethin diff, and not worry about the **** window line. I will see how sub/port up sound tho. My amp rack will be right behind the back seats but it comes about 6 inches above the box and is slanted to show off the amps:D

Big 3 is done already, its not that hard on this car, I have a thread I made that I took pictures, i'll go find it.

My box is 8.5 cubes tuned to 38. Sub up port back, and I think its just maybe an inch over the window line.

One amp is mounted on the seat, once I get both amps, i'll mount them on the back of the box.

I only have 1 battery as of now and one AQ 2200, but yes its behind the box..

Dimensions I think are 45 1/2" wide x 22 3/4" high x 21" deep

Currently I have 1 run of KNU KLMX, obviously getting another run when I get my second batt and second amp. That'll be a month or two though.

I have 3 layers of raamat and a layer of ensolite to help the flex tho, and everything is deadened. The trailblazer is nicely built tho, I like it alot so far. got it running last night.....and **** is it loud. Amp is 1/4 of the way up and it moves air like crazy. I slipped with the drill tho, and put a tiny slit in one of the surrounds. Man was I pissed, literally almost cried. Should be ok tho right. I put a little silicone over it, and its barely noticable.

My interiors up front are distorting bad on high volume up front. And it sounds like they are blown when tuned up. I have the ID's running off the sax 100.4, and they aren't right. I didn't really tune it, but the gains were only 1/4 up on it. The revs in the back were not getting very loud. The ID sound fine on volume 20, but when I turn it up it distorts and sound like ***, you can hear it over the bass. What should I do, I don't think they are blown, maybe just the amp settings.

Goin to the tigers game tho, just an update for now

kicks should be finshed thursday. Been really busy. Packing for school, and takin care of everything else before leaving. And I just built a box for my buddy's 15" Axis...never ends:crap:. As soon as I get settled I will update for sure.....btw Iset the amp with a dmm, and tuned to just what DJ said for the amp, and I'm still getting some smell out of the subs around 40ish volume. I just have a lot more tuning to do. I know they will get much louder

Well I'm at school so I don't have the things to finish my big 3 and kick panels. But I went bumpin around town tonight. People just turn their heads at me:D Some chicks rolled up at meijer likin it.
It was the loudest it has ever been tonight. Volume was only on 40 on the 880. After about 10 minutes I turned it down and my body was all tingly:D, and kinda shaky. Sooo fvckin sweet. Voltage is good and goes no lower than 12.4 at full tilt. Still have to do my big 3 so it should be good than.
When I go home I will get new pics and hopefully a hair trick vid:D

no on the ho alt, I still have to do my big 3 too, should help the voltage. Still have to throw my ppi pc4400 to run the comps too, so another 400-600 rms.

I'll post it on trailvoy too man. I'm at school now so no vids unless I can get a camera. Have alot more tuning to do.

Also as far as deadener. I think the roof is like 4' x 10'. But I mainly just deadened the back part of the roof cuz the front has the sunroof. I think Iuse used about 40-50 sq ft on the roof...Raamat btw:D

I'll get a HO alt when I'm workin again in the spring

yeah I see. Maybe a buddy will go in with me an get TL....also why would I want a smaller box. 4 cubes each sub. Isn't the larger the box the more efficient it is and easier to get loud?

Corey69

If you have a smaller box it will peak at a higher frequency which would be closer to your vehicles resonant frequency.

Corey69
09-03-2008, 01:18 AM

Yeah you could bust a 50 with a smaller box, tuning near your cars peak, and playing with sub and port positioning.

If you make a new box, use some aeros, and fire subs up, port back rex style. Plus with aeros you dont need to use as much port area and they dont take up as much space.

Then you can plug a port to change tuning.

Nice Mike, I may build another box than just to play with. Maybe I can do it in one of my construction classes.

I was goin to orignally do aeros but was having trouble gettin the tuning right in the box with my program.

Hehehe, sweet idea. I may build a box for 1 15", and throw my buddies colossus on it. so 3200 to one 15 and burp the **** out of it. As a matter of fact I do have a 3.8ish cube box tuned to 35 hz. hmmmm

Well I didn't get time for vids while home, I will get pics with my cell tho, after class sometime.

Not sure if I am totally happy with the setup. I'm sure I need more tuning. I want to get a better all around sound out of it. Everyone that sits in my car says its stupid loud and say their chest is starting to hurt/ affecting breathing. Honestly I'm gettin use to it, but I don't think I am too sensitive to loudness. I don't know.

I tried a hairtrick on music too, and it would move my gf's hair, but not in a crazy way. It would all move but not like other vids. Idk, Kinda bummed. But I have much more to do. I need my big 3 done and I would like to keep my voltage at 14. The hairtrick was at 12.3 ish volts so at 14 another 1k would be comin out of the amp and that should make a differance. Any input?

running 2 runs of kicker 1/0 to the back, a deka g34 up front and 2 g34's in the rear. No big 3, and on stock alt..doesn't go lower than 12.2 volts at tilt. Thats with the vr4000d and sax100.4, still have to put my ppi pc4400 in. I think with the big 3 i will be fine. But I'm gettin a ho alt when i get the cash.

And I love the vr4000d, but seriously I changed to the copper coils and I think its all the hdc3's can take. They get warm faster than I want and have to turn it down. Everything is set correctly. But no biggy, the amp puts out great. Doin nice so far.

My rear window in the passanger door is breaking loose. Rattles like a bish. Was lookin at it and it may need new clips holding it in tighter. Never moved nor rattled without the system

How far are you from East Lansing? I'm very interested in checking this out, because I'm looking to do the same install next summer, CTX's up front and 2 15 HDC's. If there was any possible way I could come out and listen I would be...:D. lol

How do you like the CTX's and the 880?

I'm only 20 min from east lansing...I go to school in big rapids...but I'm around lansing often.

I like the 880, and ctx's alot..I still have a lot of work and tuning to do. I actually dont even have my comps in yet...should be sick once its all tuned it...def gets loud for now:D

I'd be willin to meet up sometime..gonne be puttin my alt in this weekend and do my big 3....tuning is just a bish with this and the 880 is a whole new ballgame, but it was worth cash

Alright man sounds good. We will definitely have to meet up as soon as you get it all tuned, and your alt in and whatnot. I'll shoot you a PM or the other way around and we can figure something out one of the weekends.

da box king
02-24-2009, 08:06 PM
well I should be getting my recone from dj here pretty soon. In 2 weeks during spring break I will be building a new box ( 7.25-7.5 cubes tuned to 37-38 hz), and will be making a new amp rack. I'm not sure if I will paint the box or wrap it in carpet tho.

The box will be sub up and port back this time, should be better. And I'm making the box smaller to handle the power better. Will prolly have more port area too. Might do aero's, but not sure. And my ctx comps in the kicks will be active too, hope it works. Also got a another ground run coming, just to help things out and a buss bar I have to make for the front and rear batt....But yeah just an update

I went with the copper recone...low on cashm figure it will hold up for a while atleast:laugh:

but I talked to dj about it, he says just really watch the gains as ahe knows the amp can get clip happy too. I'll have the gain down a bit, and will be mainly tuning by ear this time. Should have it running in 2-3 days again.

Wish me luck I'm doin the recone tonight, then connect all the buss bars and wire her back up

got everything in and all I gotta say is......HOLY FAWK....thing sounds amazing

gets **** low, and sounds louder to the ear. :D I have beatin on the subs for a few hours so far, and they have not heated up once yet.....clipping matter looks to be gone. I just turned the gain down a bit, and will hook my dmm up later to it. But the things sounds great, and they are def moving.

The active setup with the ID's is goin well too, and I'm happy that they actually keep up with my subs. I just want to do more tuning and get more mids out of em
