So i finally found a little time to do an install in my own vehicle. Nothing all to special

Tweets have been glassed into the apillars currently wrapped in two different fabrics....one in grill cloth and one in a felt like material to see which i prefer....Mids will be in kicks...Amplifier is hanging in the trunk from the rear deck...And the sub will be in a small ported enclosure...Pics to follow in the next 3 mins

That is an awesome job so far. Look foward to the enclosure and cute kid. My daughter is 1 year old as of 2 weeks ago.
07-09-2008, 08:07 AM
thank you sir that one is goin on 6 months now
07-09-2008, 09:37 AM
very nice build, super clean and quality all around. I'm still to hack to use the tech flex, it looks really nice though. Should sound sweet too and not be too and those subs won't take up too much of the trunk which should be nice too.
How are the tweeters aimed, they appear to be at opposing head rests? Passenger side tweet firing at drivers head rest and drivers side tweet firing at passenger head rest, is this correct?
Looking forward to the box and seeing your dash work, top notch so far.
07-10-2008, 12:42 PM
thank you sir the tweets are aimed to meet center dash.
since I have no new pictures ill give you two randoms from a customer of mines car
And my **** ***

made a set of flush mount rings for the kicks today at work.....they are deep enough to accomodate a grill made from another ring and some grill cloth that will sit perfectly flush with the top of the ring
07-14-2008, 12:09 PM
very nice work. i cant wait to see the finished product and the enclosure. keep us updated!
07-20-2008, 08:55 PM
majority of the enclosure is complete.....the sides have been the victims of a 3/8" roundover as was the port opening.....i shall wrap it as soon as we get some glue at work
my little slice of paradise
07-20-2008, 08:56 PM
oh and i still have yet to cut the hole as we are not open very long on sundays
07-21-2008, 12:54 AM
I'm the guy that bought the A7 from you. I have a b5 audi too and just did a rack for the amps just like yours... Just a bit bigger ;) I got a question for you. can you fit a 6.5 speaker in the front doors without fabricating too much and still have it look like stock? I've been told to do just 5.25. I ended up putting some DLS UP5s in the front. I find that the 5.25 lack a lot of mid bass. Can't wait to see the rest.
07-21-2008, 07:50 AM
Car looks sick...nice work.
07-21-2008, 08:01 AM
before i decided to build the kicks i looked in the door and even if you do get a 6.5 in the door the majority of the radiating area will be blocked off by the door itself as the grill is pretty tiny.
07-21-2008, 09:43 PM
router right before i cut the hole
a couple of pics with the sub resting in the hole
07-21-2008, 10:08 PM
VERY clean install, props to you for doing things right.
Only "issue" you might have is with the tweeters as they MUST be on-axis or they ****. I run the same ones in my car and output is like 50% when they're off-axis, but maybe you'll get some reflections off the glass to help.
Interested to hear how the RS180/xt25 combo works out for you, so give some feedback when you have them dialed in...
07-22-2008, 05:51 PM
i will try and remember to right a review once im done
enclosure is carpeted as you see here we finally got our order of spray glue at work today
there was a little dust that i missed when cleaning out the enclosure that blew to the front when i fired it up for a second....and btw the enclosure in the picture is upside down because i just kinda tossed it in to the trunk
stainless steel bolts used for terminal connection
and so everyone knows the carpet does not interfere with the flow of air whatsoever....if you use a 1/16" too small bearing on a roundover bit just right it will leave you a 1/16" lip in witch you can tuck the carpet if you are using trunkliner for it is 1/16" thick
07-22-2008, 06:50 PM
07-22-2008, 06:52 PM
solid. i bet you miss the DLS amp though.
07-22-2008, 06:58 PM
looks good Dre....as azbass said how are you feeling the Alpine PDX5 compared to the DLS?
and btw cute kid
07-22-2008, 07:02 PM
that is gonna sound GOOOODDD!!!!
can i get demensions on that box?
how is the SQ on that sub and box combo?
07-22-2008, 07:07 PM
very nice and clean, and yet simple looking.
great job man!!
07-22-2008, 07:09 PM
thank you sirs and yeah i miss the a7 but the pdx5 is only a place filler until i decide on an audison lrx5.1k or a pair of he tru steel series amplifiers.
and the enclosure is 10" x 23.5" x 14.5"
07-23-2008, 11:51 PM
ok the project just got much more interesting ...after a tad bit of listening to the sub alone with the factory system...im generally not pleased with the amount of processing power that the cda 9887 has so its likely on the way out with a w205 + h701 going in its stead.....if anyone knows what the dash of one of these vehicles looks like you know what an undertaking stuffing a double din into one is going to be...should be fun
07-24-2008, 12:06 AM
I really like what you have done so far!!
Can't wait to see the double din installed!
