Instead of getting the missing links audio control, couldnt you just order a alternator with an extrenal regulator. Just seems like it would be cheaper that way.

word, would miuch rather have the adjustability

but i don't see why they couldn't just make these missing link things adjustable.

they are actually planning on doing it

You cant get ext. regulators on some alts, like mine. Plus, for ~130 can you beat it? There is a reason Meade and many others run one, it works.

db electrical for $216 shipped.
i bought an iraggi alt before but it keeps my battery light on the dash on.
it failed on the fifth day, exchanged it but still the batt light is on.
decided to just return it for a refund.

gonna install the alternator on friday, i hope the batt light will be off.

thanks for the reply guys.

Yeah, but I asked if this alternator does its job on this forum and some chimed in and said it was awful, no idle output, and far overrated..

I guess we got to wait until this one is installed in his explorer and then we will find out..

avs20

A better question is what does your truck idle at? My alt doesnt kick in until 800 rpm, but my truck idles at 600. As soon as you touch the gas the voltage goes up.

my truck idles at 600 too,
my stock alt does more at 600 rpms than the DB electrical one.
im gonna return the alt and get one from another shop.

what do you guys suggest?
Mean Green or EA or Ohio Gen?

I don't want to do iraggi as i tried it already and got a bad experience.

Ohio gen or mean green will be your best bet. Although at the same time they'll be more expensive than the excessive amperage alt.

returned the db electrical because it doesn't do **** at idle

already bought an iraggi alt 240/165,
apparently, the iraggi doesn't to **** at idle too(even if its rated 165 at idle)

idle rpm= 600

it doesnt matter what they do at 600. my explorer hates having any stress at idle anyways (running the air conditioner or the system). it matters at 2,000 rpm

MECHMAN told me the iraggi alt comes with 49mm pulley. he can sell me a 46mm one but it will be prone to slippage. i guess ill get the smaller pulley and upgrade my belt to a goodyear gatorback and make it an inch shorter.

fwiw i put my 250 amp ohio gen alt on my 99 explorer this weekend... NO output at idle. Going to call them right now and see what there is for an overdrive pulley.

Granted i can do 149.9 bassrace runs with it @ 2000 rpms and the voltage stays at 13.2.. as long as i get a decent start anyway.

idle rpm= 600

Here is the problem you are having.Your idle RPM is too low.Your probably at a 3 to 1 ratio with the previous alt pulleys that you have got.Which means the alt was only spinning at 1800 RPM.Normally the cut in for the alt is 2400 RPM(alt speed)You need to find out the size of your crank pulley in order to get the proper size alt pulley.
