I just got home from picking up 2 brand new, still in the box and plastic, smelling all fresh and ****, 12" RE SX's, and an Orion 2500D. I won't be able to start installing until Tuesday when I get paid again, because I am literally out of money now. I still need a box, the wiring, and a new battery. But anyways, as I progress, pics will be posted.

Real low quality pics, but it's much easier to use a camera phone than a real camera, especially when it comes to uploading.

Also, if anyone could help me out on a box that would be awesome. I'm not much of a carpenter, and this guy I know who is a **** fine carpenter has been missing a while. I don't wanna really buy a pre-fab one at all either.

I'm thinking of somewhere like 3-4 cubes and tuned @ 33-35 hz. So PM if you can do something for me.

Also, will an extra battery and Big 3 be enough electrical to support this?

Thanks for looking and for any help at all. More pics to come.

nice set up! an extra bat and big 3 is all i had done for awhile and my electrical system held up fine with my 2500d. Prob would be a good idea to beef it up more once you have the cash to but i think you'll be coo in the mean time

bad_trip
05-30-2008, 08:14 PM
thank you. i was certainly hoping so. big 3 is a fairly cheap thing to do, and a new battery is an easy thing as well, not so cheap though.

yeah batteries can be pricey... if your cool with using a used one there are plenty of deals floating around on the for sale section for decent prices.

05-30-2008, 08:19 PM
if its just for daily for the batteries go with deka's or the carquest NGT series, there the same battery for a decent price

ssackett
05-30-2008, 08:21 PM
there was a group buy for dekas awhile back on ROE... i think shipped price was between 190-200 bucks... not a bad deal

bad_trip
05-30-2008, 08:25 PM
i see deals on batteries on here all the time, which is probably where i will get it from. i'll check some local car parts shops to see if they have any used ones that would work.

subs are D4.

Also, i won't skimp on the box. for sure. but i can't build things man. anybody know where i could get one made, preferably around KC so shipping doesn't cost a fortune?

bad_trip
05-30-2008, 10:02 PM
that's going to be a definite. i'm overly excited though and it's getting more and more difficult to not just go hook it up now without waiting to get a proper electrical.

Well I know Bj Fisher lives in garden plain, KS. It might be a little far from where your at but that guy is the man when it comes to box building.

Well I think I have found my enclosure! 3.8 cubes @ 33hz, subs up, port back. Also, either Tuesday, or Saturday I'm going to pick up a Kinetic HC 2400. I'll probably get some wiring on that day too and begin!

bad_trip
06-06-2008, 12:49 PM
Kinetic HC 2400 coming Saturday, Box coming Tuesday, and I ordered all the wiring and everything else I will need yesterday. So more pics will be up as all the items start coming in.

thanks! this is like pure gold to me. ha. my old setup was 2 RF P2 10's off a kenwood 1,000 watt in a prefab box.

so i'm looking for a slight increase in both spl and sq. :)

Here's pictures of all the wiring, accessories, box, and Kinetic.

Yellow top on it's way either today or Monday, and i just need to get some 3/8" bolts and nuts for the front terminals and to put on the Kinetic in the trunk, and then some connectors or crimps or something to put the speaker wire onto the terminal. So probably this time next week and the install will be done. :D

this is going to be replaced by a yellow top as soon as it gets here. hopefully that will help out a bit.

Teh MAD deebeez nokked ovar my basketball goal!!!11!

Actually that was just the wind.

I think I did pretty well for my first install. I'm pretty proud of myself and love everything I have. It sounds **** good, and hits the lows pretty nice too.

The only problem i'm having is my amp gets really warm to the touch when i bump at 2/3 volume or so for a few minutes. What are the possible causes of that? Will a new battery up front help that? Or maybe relocating it somewhere?

I should also have a video up tomorrow. Let me know what you guys think, and if you have any tips/advice for me I would be more than happy to take in anything I can. :D

Looks good man! Nice fake on the last pic too lol - I was reading and wandering WTF!

Amps WILL get warm, that's completely normal. If it shuts off then that's a whole other story.

Good to hear this setup worked out - good equipment + good install FTW!

^ thanks a lot man. I was really kinda worried that i was going to mess something up, but it all came out good. i'm already looking forward to a new set-up, just to install it all again. lol. and hopefully my amp won't shut off, i'll just be careful with it.

Good job on the install. I loved my 2500d when i had it. Already have the itch to change gear huh... ha ha! once you start changing setups it never ends... :( Car audio is such an expensive addiction! Have fun bumpin and disturbing the peace!!!

looks great, just clean up , shorten that 4 awg a lil off the disrtos

bad_trip
06-22-2008, 12:31 AM
that's what i plan on doing. also the neg run from each battery is a little long too. i'm also getting crazy dimming at night. hopefully i can shorten the wires up and get my yellow top soon and fix that problem.

here in a few days or so i will probably be putting all the leftover stuff up on the FS section. i'll have a little bit of 0ga, and some 4ga, some terminals, etc.

i really wanted a sub back port back box, but got this one for the low low.

a few others i checked out weren't going to fit, and i can't build things. lol.
