Hertz ML280 amd ML1600 which are the same pieces they use in the MLK2 setup, minus the Xover, was going with the mlk165 but the tweets on these sold me, pure secsy in person, not a big fan of the other ones

can change the back chamber on the tweets to tweak the roll off and such, kinda deep to be mounting in some locations

now im gonna be using my 3sixty.2 as the xover, havnt run active yet, so its gonna be a learning experience for us, prolly gonna start about 2khz and play around with them a little and then go from there
tweeters are going in A pillar, mids in stock location, gonna be deadening them good, prolly hp them at 80-90 at -24db, working on redoing everything in the truck so wont be too long
hope it turns out good:crap:

I've got some really cool stock speakers that we could trade.
I'd probably come out a bit at a loss, but you seem like a nice guy. Go ahead and send me all your stuff mmk?
Thanks.. ;)
But back on track, I really want to see how this turns out... :)

shallow?:crap:, alot deeper than my pro 60s
pretty deep speakers in person, i think its around 3" deep ,not as bad as the mlk165 woofers which use ferrite magnet

yea, mlk2 set retails like $2k, but they come in a big aluminum briefcase, and no need for crossovers, so i chose to just buy the drivers seperate, saved a good bit

What's the FR on those tweeters? Mids?
If you have an FR graph, it would help to better see an ideal place to start. Though best sound will come from tweaking ;)

Yeah, I'd defnitely take them to ~1.8kHz then

My first question is way you guys want to run you tweeters that you? Just a question for now.
I know the reason most do is because the midrange/midbass they choose can not be ran very high cleanly. But man it's a ton of mid to high midrange at 1.8khz and to my ears it just seems to thin out voices, i mean you loose some fullness to the sound.
bamaboy, man you have some amazing drivers there, as a person who has built many active system, be very careful with the tweeter setting check once and then check again before firing the system up. You can fry them very fast. Man good luck with then system any help I can offer i would be glad to. You also have a PM.

thanks man, im gonna try and take it easy on them, whats the lowest they should be ran? 1.8khz? i can do pretty much any frequency at either 12 or 24db att.
its all controlled through palm pilot or laptop, so hope not to mess anythgin up

mine are at 2.5k @24db. thats about as a low as I would want to run a tweeter. Sounds great to me, i tried 2k on the tweeters im using now but it doesnt sound good
So much is the crossover for the MLK 165 and the MLK 2?
bamaboy

how much does it cost?
im not sure but the mlk 2 and mlk3 xovers are huge, the 3s are probably the size of an amp
Here-I-Come
05-29-2008, 09:27 PM
What's the frequency response of the woofers. Don't be afraid to underlap with the crossover. 24db on the tweeters unless you are crossing them really high.
bamaboy
05-29-2008, 09:49 PM
showing frequency response form 40hz to 7khz
tweeter is like 950hz and up
im thinking somewhere between 2k and 3k is gonna be the best spot, will see

how are you all effectively tuning ya'lls system to specific freqs?
Here-I-Come
05-29-2008, 10:58 PM
If this woofer will play up the 7Khz cleanly I would say cross them over somewhere in the 3.5-5khz range, let a tweeter be a tweeter, let it play highs.
