How far is the least you could get away with having a port in an SUV from the back hatch? Sub up port back situation. I think i may be suffocating the port on my new enclosure and might have to change up where everything is located so the port can breathe more.

At least the same width of the port IMO

:wow: My ports 24" wide. I can only squeeze maybe 10 inches if i find a new place for the batteries so the box can slide up against the back of the seats. Theres no way i can get near 24" of room.
Your port is 24x24???
Use the smaller side of your port and space it at least that far away from the hatch. The more distance the better.

i read i believe that it should be the distance of the samllest side of the port. if it's closer, it'll lower the tuning of the box a little

The distance of the port width, or it sounds like in your case, the ports height if your running the port crx style.

Oh the port height. My port is 5" high by 24" wide. So should i give it 5 inches of room or just try and relocate the batts and give it the full 10"?

Atleast 5inches and you should be fine. I would shoot for more than that though ideally....if you can get more than definately do so
