I have a '98 V6 Mustang. Graduation's coming up, so I might get some money, and I was wondering what I should do. I wanted a Bike, bu after fighting with EVERYONE, I decided it's not worth the head ache.

Option 1) Fix my Mustang up a bit more. [The hood and bumper are messed up. Bumper just needs a respray, the hood needs a new fiberglass job] and install a T-5 manual transmission

Pros: I get to keep my audio stuff in there and there's no hassle of trying to sell it. (But, mechanically speaking, it's in great condition for being ten years old . Engine starts on cue, no leaks of any sort. Solid block. Only thing going wrong is the O2 sensors that are 10 years old. :D)

Cons: It's mad slow and wastes too much gas than what it's worth.

Option 2) Sell my Mustang and get a Newer one (99+) and make that bish fast!

Pros: New Mustangs look pretty and are also faster. [I'm staying with a V6 for insurance reasons... $$$] This also allows me to get a manual with out the work.

Cons: I have to re-start my audio conquest. It opens up to a bad engine. I know my engine is rock solid right now and trust it to drive me to Alaska and back. [I trust it 'cause I more or less rebuilt it. :crap:] I'd have to sell my current car, which is a bish.

Option 3) Sell my POS Mustang and get some sort of JDM car (It just has to be manual. I'm bored with automatic!)

Pros: A quick little toy car. Lots of parts to choose from. (I'd probably get a 240sx if I do this option). Most JDM cars get pretty decent MPG when well maintained.

Cons: Same as the 'New Mustang', the engine may be a POS and I'd have to re-start my audio trek. Most JDM cars are ragged on. [Then again: so are Mustangs]

Option 4) Don't do anything to your car and save it. 401K niakkuh!

Pros: extra money in the future.

Cons: I have to stay with my automatic turtle. No fun now.

98's blow, and 98's with a v6 blow even more

get rid of that bish and either get a bike, or get the jdm for mileage purposes.....gas has become a big problem

if you want a mustang get an older one so that you can build it for much less money

Fix up your current mustang. Nothing like confidence in the motor that makes you love a car. any V6 mustang will perform practically the same. And if you're worried about gas mileage, you shouldn't drive the car like it's performance oriented anyways. remember...girls really don't care if its a v6. They like "mustangs" (except fox bodies, hahah). It sounds like you've already invest alot of blood, sweat, and tears into your current car. Keep it.

pull the back seats out, cut the rear dash and put 4 15"s in there. who give a crap what the outside looks like, as long as its loud.

Which option on the poll was that?

This is truth. And the girls who do know it's a V6 or 8 are usually tomboyish ****s anyway. And a V6 can be fast. As fast as other cars comparably tuned? No, but who cares.

Actually, it's been proven with the 4K extra you spend on a GT you can upgrade your engine to be faster than a GT with a V6.

For instance, if you get a 4.2L V6 with forged rods/cam, and put a nice little S/C on it, it'll be amazingly quick.

Granted, it's true: "You need to soup it up in order for it to keep up to the V8... stock."

Eh, whatever. Insurance is cheaper and it's fun modding your car.

FYI: The stock 99+ Split Port Induction 3.8L V6's with 11PSI from a Procharger S/C yields, I believe... 250+ HP? That's complete bone stock. With Pullies ($80 dollars), some forged pistons / cams ($200 or so) and an exhaust kit (most costly from $400-800) you can push A LOT of HP out of that V6.

But, you're right. I have spent a lot of time and work on this car [in an attempt to fray away from spending money on it]. But, I hate automatics... and I really like the newer look... not to mention the newer ones have split ports already installed. O_O

P.S. I wish I could afford a Supra.

All of your choices **** and I don't see how you could afford a new Edge which start at 26k which seems like it would probably be out of your price range anyway.

No matter how much you defend the V6 mustang they are still kind of week at and looked at as a female vehicle, my 50+ year old mother in law wanted something 'sporty' looking to drive to bingo, she picked a red engine red mustang v6.

So with your choices I would pick option 4 which is your 401k which as I get older I find starting to be more important to me than any 'status' I may feel from driving around in a nice right expensive whip.

I'd take an S14 or S13 fastback in a heartbeat. And stop buying audio equip so you can buy an SR20 or a KA25 :D

The 'New Edge' is the 'SN-95' version from '99 to '04. They're about 4K - 4.5K.

And, :fyi:, A 4.2L V6 H.O. with forged pistons / cams and nice goodies will price me around $2.5K, N/A with headers and an intake I can easily smoke a V8.

My year V6 ***** unless it's being turbo'd [Single-Port FTL] but the 99+ have split port which are raw.

At any rate, I don't care what your old mother in law wanted or got. There are few things in my price range as of now and a V6 is one of those few things.

I have a 1996 V6 Mustang (Automatic :()
I don't see why people don't like it.
Its a beauty IMO, you will never be the fastest car in town with a Mustang, but you can be the loudest. :D

I know two people, one with a 4-cyl AWD Turbo Talon (Paid 2000-3000$) and another one with a 1997 V8 4.6L Mustang (Paid 6500$). Guess who won the race?
The talon....
Whats the point of getting a V8 Mustang when they're slow?
So all you people who say V6 is ***** can you **** yourselves.
If I wanted a fast car, I would get a fast car.
If I wanted a luxury, nice car - I would get a luxury, nice car.
To get both of these, its double the price. :crying:

Now the older body style 5.0L Mustangs... Is a different story.

Have fun paying the 3-5 mpg more V8'ers.

strap a supercharger or turbo to that terribly inefficient motor and you're likely going to get even worse mileage.

not only a cool car, a coolER car. besides, aren't you going to college? Only thing you need to buy in college is beer and tacos!
