Best tool to cut the circle out

All I have is an old crappy jig saw so at the least I want to get a new one of them before I start my new box build.

Before I buy it though would a router work better? I want to get the cleanest cut I can.

Lowes has a jigsaw thats like $20, then buy some Dewalt clean cut blades for it, probably cheapest way to go. the jigsaw is made by "Task Force", cheapy, but has adjustable speeds and *****

I have both the 200 and the 100 jigs, They are very very handy:D If you go with a router and jig combo i would go 2 1/4 hp or higher.

Besides if you go with a jigsaw, you have to trace a circle to follow. where a jasper you just drop the pin on the size hole you want thats it!

Unless you're going to flush mount the subs I'd just get some good blades and use the jigsaw you have as long as it works.

i use a router witha craftsman circle cutter edge guide. and a craftsman router. works great fpr me and takes maybe 3-4 minutes to cut through double baffled 3/4 mdf

dewalt makes good routers, 1 3/4hp is a little small but it can get the job done! That is a great price for a new dewalt router.

if you feel that you will be building a lot of boxes, or using a router quite often i would get one. if not jigsaw would work. though it takes a lot longer imo

The router would easily allow you to do a better job but you cab get by with the jigsaw just fine. Good blades make a world of difference.

the jaspers are expensive imo and im not sure if it will fit my certain model of skiL

atm im using a home made jig made out of plexiglass.. could be thicker and more accurate but it gets the job done well.

a router and jasper jig is great, or if you got to much time on your hands like me, you take a router and some plexi and make a jig...... i dont need all them hole anyways......lol....
