Ok I have a Kicker KX500.2 on 1 Rockford Fosgate Punch 600w rms oldskool 12". Also i have a ****** 1200w American Legacy AmP...lol....The 2 audiobahn 18's i have are the AW-1805Q model...they are 1200w RMS 2400w MAX. I was planning to have 1 18 on the kicker amp and the other 18 on the american legacy 1200w AMP...btw the legacy amp says its stable @ 2 ohm's and that perfect because the 18's are dual 4ohm. Ok I have a 85 box buick currently but im planning this install for the 88 box caprice im getting.

The thing with the audiobahn's is they need new wires and need 2 b solder'd where the those wires go from the voice coil to the one thing....i dont know what the wires i called i think they are tensil wires...idk sorry

One of the Voice coils wired work and play on one of the audiobahns i was going to try n take apart the audiobahns and try n repair the voice coil wiring but i dont have the tools to take it apart. i have some more tensil wires i just need to know what and how to replace/re-solder the wires.

ANY help/Recommendations?

trying to upload pics now....

what are the ohms on the fosgate sub?

SeanDub

He is not joking. He is just ignorant. Do not hook up two different amps to two subs. Do not hook up a system. Do not pass GO, do not collect $200. Go directly to a shop so they can sell you an overpriced amp to work with your subs.

if you take a subwoofer apart you will need a recone kit....you cant just take em apart and put the same pieces back together

Goindef154
04-13-2008, 05:10 PM
if you hook up two 18's that are dual 4 ohm together, you wont be able to get a 2 ohm load.

IDK i never could find the ratings for it......As soon as i hooked up the rockfords to the kx500.2 *** blew one rockford and i only have 1 working 1 now. It is Single Voice coild i do know that.

It has the red diamond on the front that say's The Real Punch Power....someone on here toll me they were the 1996 series and that it was 600w rms

EDIT: each audiobahn is dual 4 ohms so if i hook them together they can be wired to 1ohm.....Also im buying seperate battery for my system in the back.

Honestly man, just keep the Fosgate and the kicker amp and sell everything else and save up for some nicer equipment and do it right.

Yah just bridge the 2 kicker channels together and run the fosgate sub, it's probably a single 4 ohm coil, since most svc's are.

I would just hook up the working sub to your biggest mono amp.......only for a temporary setup though

thanks for the Helpful post man....im gunna go try it now....Im gunna ride up the street se if it hits harder....what should i turn the bass, gain and crossover to on the amp?

I dont even have it bridged and when i turn the gain up past 6/10 the sub just punches back n forth and doesnt play. i have it on 5 for gain. U think it would blow it on bridged mode?

Goindef154
04-13-2008, 05:21 PM
I don't honestly know, I'd have to be there, I'd say to be safe don't turn the gain up past halfway if even close to to half. It's not gonna be that loud but you'll have something until you can get something better, it's easier to learn the first time that you can't go cheap on audio stuff all the time. You can look for good deals, but you have to still pay to get the good stuff.

You could set the crossover at 40 hz. Again just throwing a number out there. I'd really have to be there

hataz

...Lol.

Dude for real, sell all your gear to some kid who is equally as ignorant as you, take that money to a good shop, and ask them to sell you/install a decent setup.

And when you set foot in said shop, don't act cocky like you know everything there is about audio gear, listen to the nice man at the counter, and do whatever he tells you. ;)

Edit: How were you fitting two 18" subs in the trunk of that car? I can't think of a way that there's enough volume for a properly sized enclosure...

My trunk is Huge bro....im not worried about size ...u gotta remember oldskool trunks a freaking huge....I wanna keep the audiobahns i just dont know how to put new voice coil tinsel wires in and solder them. If i can find out how to do that then im all good.

you solder the tinsel leads to the positive and negative terminal on each side. once you do that take it to a shop and have them help you with the install.

I actually feel bad for the kid. I mean we all learn one day, but even when I started back in like 92, I knew not to hook up different amps to different subs or run different sized subs or brands. Amazing.

To fix this you need to go to home depot/lowes or your garage, get a rope. Google hangmans noose and use it.

seriously i deal with people like this all the time, i assume you also walk into the stereo shop and tell the installer that his car sounds good, but then when he gives you advice you just laugh at him and tell him how sweet your old school stuff is? and that you dont wanna get the new stuff because the old stuff is way better back when audiobahn was in there "prime" as well as "RF" so take some advice or the flaming shall continue

who was it that has the quote in there sig that puts audiobahn on the same level as jessica simpson? we need a direct quote for that in this thread

fozzymuphet

Hey guys everyone back off. Before another person posts about audiobahn being ****......have you used it? If not then don't post. If so then give your opinion. I myself have not used audiobahn. My only experience is my friend had some bahns and they sounded pretty awful but it was a best buy special. I've never heard them in a decent box.

As for the amps.....no I would not use one amp per sub unless each sub had it's own box. even then you'll probably be running into problems.

As for the tinsel, If you know how to solder then just solder the tinsel back into it's original location. I'd probably leave a little extra slack since the reason it broke was because it was either too short or wasn't soldered properly.

And good luck. Not all audiobahns are bad.....just most of them. And when they are the cheapest product around, 90% of the people will say they **** without hearing them.
