well i will be looking for someone locally since they will have to get the measurements of the box bc its not a stanard square box its pretty custom

i am located in sw fl anyone kno a good place around the ft.myers/port charlotte/punta gorda/ tampa /lakeland area

and does good work for not a sky high price

You are probably talking about THUMPPER. He and Fisher have been doing it so long that they have adapted their own style of boxes. Both do amazing work.

does anyone on here know anyone locally around my area that does a good job
a shop here in town said like 450 bucks for it to be made not installed or nothing

dleccord
04-05-2008, 01:30 AM
$450 is a pretty good deal.

king ranch
04-05-2008, 01:32 AM
for real i thought that was high considering fischer does it for around 250-300 or so

only thing i am figuring is why its so much bc its not a regular box it has different heights the width and depth is all the same but the front of the box is gonna slope down so maybe thats why

so 450-550 isnt a bad price if the guy knows what he is doing
he has medals and trophys from comps and what not

make your own box. fiber glass it easy

king ranch
04-05-2008, 01:35 AM
well idk how to build anything with glass and dont kno how to design a ported box and have the port and tunning and space and everything right

i mean i would rather pay someone for a good box build i have the cash waiting

NoobieAudio
04-05-2008, 01:37 AM
just research on how to tune it. and i assume your trying to put it behind the seats of that f-150? just remove the seats for and then lay like 3-4 layers of masking tape on the area the box is going. then start putting glass on it. let it dry and then you can remove it and have the mold for the back. then you can make an mdf front to it.

Where are you located in FL?

If you're within driving distance of the Lakeland/tampa area, i would DEFINITELY drop mobeious a PM.

He's a great guy, has great prices, and does flawless work.

looking to get custom box built to fit inplace of my rear center console in my king ranch with bucket seats

for dimensions i can go 35 tall 40 at the most if needed for airspace, 20 deep,17 wide

but from the roof down the deep part of the box can go bigger since to match the slop of the front seats its hard to describe i will take pics tommorow and post to show what i am wanting built

its for 2 12's l7's looking to have around 5net cut ft

king ranch
04-05-2008, 02:38 AM
no room behind seats unless i did major fabing have to lift and move seats forward 2 inches and still only have room for sealed and barely sealed and would have to be shallows and just too much aggriavtion and time if i was going to do that i would do a blowthrough since i have a tonea cover on my bed

NoobieAudio
04-05-2008, 02:40 AM
you have a panel on the back on the cab right? under the rear window. you could easily make a relativley spacious area for some subs if you cut into that.

alxmlr789
04-05-2008, 02:41 AM

yea but the blowthrough isnt in my price range at the time it would be costy have to have alot of dynamat along with about 8 12's with about 4 amps or so and ho alt and batts nd too much cash right now

and even if i take that panel off it only gives me about 3 inches if that extra trust me man i already know all this i have the truck to look at and try

for the dimesnions of this 35 i would like to be the height from floor to roof at the highest point i can do 40 if i have to for airspace and it can only be 17 inches wide from seat to seat in the rear and for the depth it varies with the height

anyone have any suggestions
will 2 12's l7's ported fit in that place it looks bigger in person

do you think there is enough room

BobbyDD
04-05-2008, 02:01 PM
That box is going to be pretty expensive I would think no matter who builds it. Mobeious does great work as does iamamp3pimp , and I believe they're both located in the same vicinity.

I don't think there is a "best" box builder here. Seems to me different builders specialize in different types of boxes. You happen to be lucky enough to be located close to some of the best here.

king ranch
04-05-2008, 02:02 PM
what would make that box expensive

and what do you consider expensive

BobbyDD
04-05-2008, 02:06 PM

The complexity. If they can beat the $450 price you got I'd be really impressed.

king ranch
04-05-2008, 02:09 PM
ok well he said anywhere from 350-450 depending on how many sheets it will take

thats what i got quoted by a local shop

bumpin buick
04-05-2008, 02:10 PM
Looks like something that may need to be built inside the truck, but I may be wrong

iamamp3pimp
04-05-2008, 02:11 PM
nah, id charge 300 labor + materials.

maybe a little less.

but i dont build anymore.

:)

king ranch
04-05-2008, 02:14 PM
well it might be a pain to get it installed after being built but it might work bc the back seats fold down if i have to i can take the seats out to instal the box

i cant be a week plus without my truck

i am thinking of just going sealed and forgot ported if its too much work or money and still will end up not being enough airspace

king ranch
04-05-2008, 02:37 PM

I just like drinking beer and box building....

king ranch

well i think i will let mobeious do the build since hes only about an hour drive from me
plus i heard he does good work and doesnt charge over the top

i might even get him to make me a glass box since it would prob end up in more airspace due to all the weird angles and such

wats a average price for a glass box

I have no idea on price, but he does great glass work. It would look good glassed the way the box will stick out.
