Because I absolutely **** at building boxes, I went to my local place for them to build a ported box to hold my two Interfire IFB-15D's. They're 600RMS each and call for 2 cubic feet for each sub and if you go ported, the sheet says a 2" W and 8"H port for a SINGLE sub. The box they made has 4 cubic feet but only that 2" W and 8" H port. Why such a small port? When you have a spec for a single sub, wouldn't you double that when you have two subs? The results of the sub are excellent response in higher lows, but sloppy ( SLOPPY ) performance on lows.

I know it has to be the box because my girl friend has a similar enclosure for her two audiobahns ( I tried to pursuade her away ) but surprisingly they're louder!

Could the one small port be limiting the subs in my car? I'm just upset that such ****** speakers as the audiobahns could be hitting louder than my car. And she bought her audijunks for new online for 90 bucks for the pair :<

I see his all the time....a 2 x 8 port is not sufficient for two 12"
by any means...can you say PORT NOISE!!!!

how much $$$ did they charge you????

Yeah hes got two fifteens. Not near enough port. Shouldve had a member build it.

2x8 is 16sq inches of port....with 2 you need 32 sq inches of port

Your problem is 100% your enclosure.

First off, that's not enough port area for one of those subs, let alone, two. Also, 4 cubes shared is very small for two of those subs. I suggest either using 1 of them in an enclosure about the same size or double the size and add a ton more port area.

If you want, I could design something for you and you can have somebody build it.

I would definitely take it back to the shop and let them know you're not satisfied with their work and see what they will do to make it up for you. I bet they charged you an *** load for it too. :\

if the specs are correct, you will want 7 cubes for 2 of them

Interfire makes budget friendly subs and amps, for what it is though its pretty good. I had 2 of the 10" version of the subs he has on an interfire amp and it hits pretty good.

7 cubes sounds dead on. 4 cubes would be suffocating those woofers which is why your getting such peaky high bass out of it. a 7 cube box needs atleast 80-85 sq inches of port in the least! and if you are wanting a more down low bass tuning in the low 30's will give that to you.

Yeah I knew it was the port size because they hit mids incredibly, incredibly loud but when it hits lows it sounds like its clipping because it cant move the air. I PM'D Immacomputer but as I told him, if anyone could design a box I'd definately appreciate here. Here are the specs:

As I also told him, I'd like the subs to fire towards the rear and the port towards the cabin. But I'm not sure which is best for hatchback, since my car is an acura integra ( 1991 RS ). Any help would be appreciated! :)

I already have the two subs so :) I don't need earth shattering because obviously I wont get that with these subs... But I need something that will hit lows BETTER. :) My box will have to be designed in a manor where the box will only be wide enough to hold the subs and an inch on each side... but a really long box.... Do you know what I'm getting at? Look at my current box :

See how I'm going to have to have the box sitting in my back seat as well as in the trunk? :)

I'll post the maximum height and width tonight. BTW I paid 200 locally for this box :<

Seal the box. There go your low notes! In that car, 7 cubes(net) is gonna be hard to get. Either do one 15 ported, or two sealed. Since u already have that 4+ cube box, I'd attempt to seal off the port and see what it sounds like. U never know, u might be surprised at the output in such a small space. What kind of power do u have?

My amp puts out 1000RMS and subs can handle 1200RMS together.

Did they do the carpet on that box? or did you do it?...

Because if they built it wrong, and did a crappy job on the carpet.. I would be so pissed if I payed for that, especially 200$!!

It's prolly overrated since it only has two 30A fuses on it. But... I put that damage on there because of a previous rear windshield wiper constantly banging on it :P YES, I got ripped, but that's beside the point. I'm moving on! Lol :)
