I'm thinking of building my box sub down, port down, but I was wondering how much space I should have between the port and the floor. Also if that's just a stupid thing to do let me know and I won't.

why don't you want to fire the subs and port in a different direction?

It's in a Dodge Ram and I really don't care which way I put it I just thought down would be the safest to make sure none of my stupid friends got in my truck and put their foot through my sub but I can just put a grill on it if port downs a bad idea. I'm really not that concerned about it.

I'd give subs foward or up and port to passengers side a try first. Downfiring subs are usually saved for sealed boxes in trucks. :)

do you have enough space to do that in your (im assuming) truck?

Yeah I'm gonna lift the seat a bit so it should be fine.
