View Full Version : Looking for suggestions for DVD HU

Hey all, I'm looking to get a DVD HU. Price range is up to $7-800 (preferably lower, but I guess I'm willing to spend more for a reputable retailer with a good warranty). Features I would like are:

7" screen
detachable face (for a single din)
USB port
customizable wallpaper
BT capable
decent pre-out voltage (preferably better than 2V)

I guess that's really it. I had been looking into the Kenwood kvt-617 (mainly because of cost but now realized not a factory refurb, blah blah blah), and have read many posts on here about people not liking them...After more research though, I think I would like the 719 better since it has the above features (except pre-out V)...but there again, not much love for the Kenwoods.

If you have a suggestion, please name the brand as I am not up on all the model names, and abbreviations...also, if you know of a good retailer who has a decent price, please list that too. Thanks for all info.

Yeah, it would be alot easier (and cheaper) to do a single din. I can get a dash plate for a double din for about $200, but I think I'd rather save that...Its going in a 96 Chevy Impala SS, just for reference.

:D Yeah, I love the car; had it up for sale a couple weeks ago but came to my senses...I converted it to a 6 speed too (hence my name) so its even more ******* now.

The 5000 does look promising, but it only has 2 pre outs and doesn't say if you can load wallpapers. JW, is it smart/ok piggyback rears/subs on the same controls, or would it better to find a unit with 3 pre outs?
