lol.

You have a 9910z, and your asking opinions.

You don't need that sub then.

pretty much yea...

gotta start somewhere right?

i have never used aeros. only slot ported.

stay at 1.8ft3 after displacement
1.2-1.8
@ 38-45hz

2 will be a little more than it needs.

and there shouldnt be any problem with driver firing up and port in side right?

how much power are you going to run to it?

cha0
03-24-2008, 01:25 PM
7k

bones22
03-24-2008, 01:26 PM
do close to the 1.8ft and a single 6" aero @38-45hz

its going to sound more like a very nice 15.
you wont believe the excursion on it when you see how much it moves.

what do you think is optimal for decent SPL and SQ when it comes to tuning? this box is just going to be for daily with the aeros. the next box will be a fart box made with just PVC. i dont care what that one sounds like i just want to see how loud i can get it with about 10k.

tommyk90
03-24-2008, 01:31 PM
7kw daily? I sure hope not.

i like 38-40hz you may be different tho

tommy i was running my cadence to it. so we dont start some huge dispute about power thats 6k rms daily

cha0

7kw daily? I sure hope not.

i have been talking to some people through PMs they have said that as long as its getting clean power/have a beefy electrical system and the gains are set right this shouldnt be a problem

tommyk90
03-24-2008, 01:35 PM
Yes it will be a problem. I don't care what you think. 7kw for any extended period of time isn't going to happen.

What the hell is with all these people these days wanting to run 100,000 watts to one sub for daily?

what would you suggest daily for it then tommy?

3-4kw daily will be plenty. Any more power for any long period of time and you're going to risk burning up the coil.

But as for the enclosure, I pretty much agree with everyone else. 1.8-2 cubes, one 6" aeroport for daily, though I would tune a bit lower if you are intending to play music.

Now an SPL box is going to take a lot more testing and tweaking on your part. :)

ill agree with this.
3-4k will get it moving just fine.

if you want to throw it in a fartbox for comps 10k on burps wont be any problem at all

anyone kind enough to check the displacement math?

for 1 6' aero tuned at 40Hz i need the pipe 19.42inches. that rounded is 19 1/2 so that should be .319 cubes?

how big is the SPL box going to be? 1.8 cubes seems a little large for a 10" and +7000 watts.

cha0

havnt even decided on the SPL box yet. the box we are discussing now is for daily. what is your opinion on the subject. the more the merrier for me...

a single 10 will be pointless for spl or even daily in an explorer. unless you are alan dante. you need more cone area to get loud.

i was actually thinking of just spending the 400bills and reconing to something bigger..

its funny how people under estimate the sub because its a 10.

with the power and the right box i have no doubt he would hit a 145. now breaking 150 may be out of reach.
its no explorer but with the sub he has dave hit slightly over a 155 in his crx. everything under the glass in a tiny little box on 2 z1a's

but yes DD will recone it to an 18 for around 400 if you really want to

i had 2 dd 10s in my explorer with 6000w rms going to them and best i could do was 147db mines a 4dr explorer 03 and its not a crx it need alot to get pressure in a explorer compared to a crx that 1/5 its size inside.

bones22
03-24-2008, 04:27 PM
i had it in my 4dr tahoe and did just fine for the few days i had it in there on my 9000d

just run it and get it metered you will be suprised with what you will get from it

when dave had this 10 in his crx he had a pair on 2 z1as doing 155 if he only had 1 sub id say he probley was doing 153db and i said my guess with the right box in a explorer was 145db know more no less just from what i know i can do 152db with 2 12s in mine and 154db with 4 12s

Remember to add about 1/8" for the thickness of the port and the volume of the flare. So it will actually be around 0.346 cf. Not that it will make a significant difference, but still. :)
