1" should be fine as long as theres some bracing...

how do you think i should brace it though?? i'm going to order the 16x32" sheet and use it on the top board. the top of my box is 32x17.5" so i figured i would make the plexi part of it about 14x20 or so that way you don't see the port and all that good stuff. how would i go about bracing it and installing it mainly i ask b/c the thickness of the wood is only 3/4" what do i do since the plexi is 1"??

If you use 1" plexi for a window that size. I don't believe you will have to worry about bracing. mount it from the inside. cut your hole the size you want the window. Then use a router with a round over bit from the outside to round over the outside edges. Then when you cut the plexi for the window. Cut the plexi so there is an inch overhang. Bada bing you have a flange to mount the plexi with. :)

Also with one inch plexi you got to edge light that bastard. :D It's just got to be done. :)

this was actually my thought on being the top board of my box for my dual 10a's lol. can i still do that ramos?? it will be the exact size for the top board and the entire ting will be plexi is you say it'll work without problems that is

Yeah you could do that. Predrill your screw holes. And you might want to paint a 1"-2" stripe around the edge of the plexi on top to hide the MDF sides of the enclosure beneath. And just to dress it up some. :)

now will it work just as good though and not crack the plexi though?? if i do that i'm gonna buy a blue mirror sheet to place in the bottom of my box and make it look all nice and perty lol.

When drilling through plexi...dont drill your holes too close together, or too close to the edges of the plexi...it will crack on you if you arent carefull. But with 1", I think you'll be fine;)

Sounds like the project is coming along well, Adam.

yeah i just gotta decide if i'm going to build the box slightly dif. than before. if i go with plexi top it will be freaking sweet looking especially with a blue mirror along the bottom unless you guys have any othe suggestions for color?? will showing off the port look tight in your guys opinion??

Well...I dunno. I wouldnt do a plexi front, waste of time. A plexi back however...simply because you want to show off the A's cone up front and the magnet in the back. You could invert them so you would see the cone from the plexi and the *** end from the other end of the box.

But hey, a plexi top is **** cool. As long as you are neat and tidy inside (with the port, wiring, mounting), then hey, that would look awesome.

see that's what i figured about the mirror bottom helping with wiring. i figured i'd run the speaker wire underneath it so the back then have the wire terminal there and run that out to the amp, i was also thinking maybe vinyl the inside of the box since i won't be doing the top that way and also it will make it so i don't have to be too careful with the resin and i can make a mess hehe. my thought with the plexi mirror also was to just have the entire bottom mirrored and just cut out slots for where the port boards will be and flush mount them to fit into the grooves i cut out. sound good to you guys??

Don't worry about vinyling the inside of the box. Paint it white. That way if you use any lighting in the box. It will look like it's glowing :)

aiight that was my other thought. what do you think of the blue mirror though ramos?? i know you steve and loyd all know a lot about plexi you seem to know the most but would cutting around the 2 port boards seem like something that would look just uber tight kinda thing. sorry for the horrible word i've been playing SSX Tricky WAY too much.:D

The mirror would look pretty sweet. Just make sure all of your work on the inside of the box is tight. Any little inperfection will be easier to see with the mirrored panel. :)

I take it your going to coat the inside of the box with resin. When you apply the resin brush it on first then go over it with a plastic body filler spatula to smooth it out. It will save you alot of time. Then you will have to do some rough sanding to smooth it out. Then prime with several lite coats of primer. Then light coats of paint. Gloss white usually gives the best effect. :)

I would base your color choice on the rest of your install, and the interior of your vehicle. You don't want it to look out of place. So what color is your interior and what colors aare you using in the rest of your install ? :)

my interior is the regular light bronw type color from GM and the rest of my install will more than likely be hidden under my back seat. a buddy of mine is hoping he can put a zapco 360 and my MMATS d300hc under my back seat then the box would be the only thing you see. so with that being said once again what color lol. i was thinking the midnight blue would look pertty:D.
