Long time member of the forums, but haven't been around in a few years. I was devoting most of my time to getting my CarPC where I wanted in terms of features and SQL. Now that I have it sorted out, I'm looking to do a bit of upgrading in my audio hardware department.
Right now I'm running Infinity 5000cs 5.25" comps up front, with 2 Pioneer 305DVC's in the trunk. While it sounds pretty good, I'm really having to stretch my subs out to match up with the 5.25" drivers in the front. Using a cut crossover of 110Hz at the moment and would like to get that down to around 90Hz or 100Hz at the highest.
Keep in mind that I am budget limited on this at no more than $200.00 for the component set. Whether I end up going 5.25" or moving up to 6.5" this is an absolute hard limit for my cash flow.
Couple of questions now. Can I realistically find a set of 5.25" comps that will get me to my goal of 90Hz realistically? I listen to the music fairly loud so keep this in mind. If this is not feasible, I can go to 6.5" components.
Another question, is it worth it to even upgrade at this point? For under $200.00 will I notice a fairly large difference over what I'm using now? Basically is it even worth buying new equipment with my limited budget or should I just stick to what I have?
Thanks in advance for any help, it's much appreciated.
Wow, just was looking around and noticed many people using the PG RSd 65cs comp set. Seems like it has mucho respect around here and it can be had for around $100.00 on Ebay and various other sites. This would seem to be my best option as of now. Discuss.... :D
