Ok i made a thread earlier about the same thing, but now i i finally measured all the dimensions to which my sub enclosure would be able to fit. I have noe come up with a brand new enclosure plan for my 12" dual 2 ohm RE SX subwoofer. I used RE calc to show what the enclosure will look like. i used quickbox elite to get all the right dimensions/values which I had input into Re calc. and i used Inventor to construct the box. the box will be going right behind the rear seat in my 1995 Jeep YJ Wrangler and will be running off a cadence TXA-1000D (1000rms@1ohm)

Explain to us how this is going to fit BEHIND the seat.:confused:

well, in order to get the full 13" i will have to "unlatch" the rear seat and fold it forward just a bit.

thats kinda dumb, then just take it out, or build an angled box that will fit behind the seat, you basically have as much room as a truck, maybe less, I dont think there is as much width

i was thinking of building an angled enclosure BUT i would only be able to face the sub one way, toward the driver or away from. also the angled box is a little harder for me to construct seeing that this is my first enclosure build. also i wont necessarily be putting people in the rear seat. when I have more people to drive around ill just use my 4 door jeep.

The obvious answer is that you don't want to use a 12" sub. Maybe 3 eights or 2 tens.
Here are plans to build a box that fits IN the bottom half of your seat after you remove some (most) of the foam. It's designed for 2 eights or 1 ten but with the recent invention of shallow" subwoofers you might be able to get 1 twelve in there.

because it is incovnienient in your application. if you are fine with having it how it is then do it. you dont have to listen to everyone on here, its your project we are just expressing our opinions

ya but all i really need to know is if my design is fine. Do i have enough port area for the amount of cf^3, do i have a good amount of cubic feet for the sub to operate well. THANKS for the all suggestions!

build a box that fits behind your seat, if you dont have anyone riding in the back ever than take the sucker out and build a big box, how safe do you feel with your friends riding on a half mounted seat?

if i do have friends sittin back there ill just take the sub box out. i just dont like the look of my jeep without the backseat. i may be able to alter where the seat is mounted with some brackets i would build. just move it up 2 inches.

i must say it woops my old system which was 2 kicker cvr10's 2vc 4 ohm and 2 kicker zx 300.1's they were fire down running at 2 ohm also but not enough air space think like .80 per sub sealed but load but no real low bass it amazing how 1 12 beat my old 2 10

the jl w7 has alot of excursion you really have to build the box way off the floor for fire down

i never thought of having the sub fire down. i think i may try it both ways to see the difference. i also dont think ill get that much bass when i take the soft top off of the jeep while listenin to music.
