Baffle board for the speakers to sit on.
Which, by the way, will be an 8" midbass, 5" midrange, and a tweeter.
Also a piece of etched plexy will be lit up in that rectangled area.

Trimmed up the rear pods, secured them to the baffles, made some mounts for them and started some filler work.......

Didn't take pics of the body filler and the sanding, but you know how that stuff goes anyways.

Here are the primered pics after the sanding......

I took the rear panels to the guy the other day.
They wanted to paint them since they may change the color scheme up.
So I just loaded up the primered pods on the panels and took them.

I would have wrapped in matching tan vinyl. There is going to be a lot going on with those doors now. Shiny black, grille cloth, tan two-tone vinyl, and the "wood" trim...

Shinny black looks good no matter what:D

In all seriousness... I think he made a good choice, in not going with "matching" vinyl... B/c if the color was off at all it would look like ****...

dbornotdb
02-29-2008, 11:42 PM
All the wood grained stuff is being painted black to match.

The carpet on the rear panels is being covered up by etched plexy and painted black on the back side. So it won't be seen either.

Looking for black or charcole colored armrest or dyeing them Black.

You definitely did a great job with the fabrication and painting!! You have definitely created "functional eye candy"!! I don't have the kind of skills that you have displayed with the pictures and if I lived closer I'd have you fabricate similar pods for my Expedition. Seeing those pictures make me want to turn the beast into a thing of beauty! Thanks for sharing the pictures, keep us updated with installed pictures.

I am revisiting this thread.

He wanted the front pods done his way and that is how they came out. He asked for the front panels to be left stock.

On the rear panels, I said I had a plan and he let me do them how I saw them.

Well he liked the rear panels better and asked I make the front panels look the same. And do this in 2 days or less so they can get painted and installed to go to Daytona.

So on with some pics....

Nah, I wouldn't say that.
He didn't have the vision for what I wanted to do. Once he saw the rear panels, he caught on so I am actually glad he redid the fronts. Everything looks alot better.
