View Full Version : there are two bars in my trunk that hold it open

those bars are the only things stopping me from fitting a 15 in my trunk and being able to put it sub back port back,, if i cut those off is there anything i can use to hold the trunk open?

the bar runs across from left to rite, is there any chance i can possibly cut it and use actuators or something of that nature on the sides

you mean the actual pieces that attach to trunk lid to the hinge

no he means the torsion bars that let him open his trunk and makes it stay in the open position

naw, when i open the trunk they keep the trunk open, like the things that..... idk like when you pop thr tunk, as you open it the things that opens it and keeps it up, **** hard to explain, wish i could get a pic but my boss has my camera rite now

Yes, there are piston rod kits sold to hold the trunk open to replace the torsion bars.

use your imagination, and use those piston things. Lol I know this one dude who had the same problem, and got a crobar to wedge it off, but all the force that he used on that bar the trunk lid slammed on his head and layed him the **** out. It was hilarious, I couldnt stop laughing as he layed on the ground then I helped him up.

And don't cut em out, they're spring loaded, so you can carefully pry them out and put em back in if/when you sell the car.

Either mount up a single HD piston on one side or use a piece of 1x2 like I do...

i just like a 5-6 foot poll to keep my trunk i had the same problem its actually pretty cool looking lol
