could you design me a box for 2 12" type r's. my max dimensions are 52x20x20 which is about 8.8 cubes. i would like to keep it around 4.5 or 5 because thats what i have heard they do the best at. i would like it to be vented. it goins into a 96 dodge dakota ext cab pickup. i have heard that in a truck subs and port forward works best?? maybe you know a configuration that is better. if you know a better configuration than thats how i woudl like it. i would like the tuning to be between 30-36 because i like the lows to hit really hard. i listen to alot of rap so i want alot of bass. also i would like to keep 52" width as minimal as possible and the 20" depth as minimal as possible to leave more leg room. also i will be running 600 watts to each sub so 1200 total. in the long run i might up it to 1000 each. but not anytime soon. let me know if u have any questions and what not.

Thanks Matt

go to google and get sketchup (free, just how you expect things to be)
go to your sub manufacturers wevsite and get ALL of the sub's specs (also free)
go here http://www.carstereo.com/help2/Articles.cfm?id=31
plug in measurments.. Get out your little calculator (you might actually have to buy one of those) and have a blast

You must've been really bored. But, uhh... wouldn't that create a lot of port noise? >_>

That port looks... off, I don't know.

Arrite, if you say so. I'm just going by eye, it looks... funky. But, I think he'll be happy with it.

That's a nice design mobeious. When doing a center port like that, how far in before you start the divider? 6 3/4" like the initial opening?

mobeious

no usualy just eyeball it for the size of the port... really just for looks... bigger port always looks better

The guy already made you a sick design. Send him a few bucks and build it. Having a good design will save you money in the long run.

Man, he did a beautiful design for you for free, where most would charge you at least a few bucks. If you want a cutout sheet, I dont think giving the man a few dollars is out the question.

And believe me, I know how it is to be flat broke, but if you can afford subs, you can afford to pay for a design IMO. Not trying to post dump, but seriously I see a thread like this at least once or twice a day lol.

so he can afford subs amps and to build a box but not for a design

He's not broke because he has 2 15" L7s and is upgrading to a new Jensen flip down screen for his ride. And he's got 2 Type-R's. But he can't spare $10 to get a quality box design or take the time to learn how to design his own.

You got $28 for a sheet of MDF right? then?

LMFAO at this kid...

People are always wanting something for nothing.

Funny thing is, if the kid at least showed some initiative at first... and at least TRIED to follow my stick or ask for a walk through of it on AIM... I would have more than likely whipped up a design for free if he still couldn't get it.

But... looks like we got a something for nothing guy.

Dear god you all are ******* pathetic.

How dare he suggest that the members of the forum actually do something so selfless as help a novice member of the community! Almost all of you fucktards wouldn't even know the first thing about decent box design if it wasn't for the help of the forums. You were all in the exact same position as the OP in the not-so-distant past. And :fyi: your limited knowledge of enclosure design and construction isn't worth compensation.

The forum isn't a tool for you to pad your pockets selling ******-assed box designs or to refuse assistance unless paid. It's not here for commercialization and capitalism. It's here for exchange of knowledge and discussion of topics of common interest. For those of us who have the knowledge and ability to help teach and explain these concepts to the novice members and less experienced. Believe it or not, there was a point in time when a member of the forum requested help with a box design, other members of the forum would have done so without demanding compensation! :gasp:

You participate in the forum for free. If you wish to respond to threads and answer questions, then do so. But don't expect to be compensated for such actions. If you believe your knowledge is so grand that you demand compensation, then write a ******* book.
