well i plan on building a ported box in the trunk of my civic. it will be facing foward and i will attempt to seal the cabin from the trunk in the process. well this is a design i came up with(foot = inches)
i beleive the total air space is about 7cu after displacment and the tuning is at 30-31hz.
it is pretty much the max dimensions i can use w/o making an odd shaped box in the trunk.
question: would this be ok for 2 xxx15's or should i go bigger?
are my port calculations off?
should i squeeze out another cube of air space?

after a little more measuring to try to gain as much space as possible i was able to get the enclosures airspace close to the recommended specs for the subs.
i came up with these cavities that are located right behind the wheel well.
here's what i could look like.
the area in yellow gives me a total air space of 3.774cu.
both sub areas combined air space is 7.548.cu
i did not take the green portion into count as it is the area right behind the port though it counts for 0.42cu. though adding it would give me a total of 7.968cu.
my new question is would the cavities positioned on the side of the box be OK for trying to add more airspace to the enclosure?
also can anyone tell if my port calcs are off?
just trying to get a few opinions on this as i'm no real box builder. :p:
someone? anyone? i'll give a dollar?

if it were at an angle( the cavity) id do it, but like that, no.
that box wont go in the trunk anyway.
it isnt worth the little bit of gain in airspace.

it will be built in the trunk.
i see what you mean with it at an angle. going to overlook it.
edit: though w/o the cavity do you think that the air space of 3.447cu be somewhat suffecient for the speaker?(per side)

just leave out those cavities... its alot of hassle and more likely to look ugly and do more damange than help. You cant go more in any other direction.. maybe some polyfill to make up for space?
