Are the 600s any good? With a original list of $800.00, isn't $199.00 a good price? What do you all think, s600s' or pioneer 720s'. The price is awful tough to pass on.

no midbass on the diamonds...720s are better. up the budge though and you'll get a few more options from different brands.

diamonds all the way. I have used the hex series for years and have always had great midbass.

Just because the HEX series has strong midbass that doesnt mean that the others in the line will.

so are you referring to the d6 or d3 line as well? He is asking about the hex line if you check the model number he posted. I have worked with the lower line of coaxis and I don't like them at all but I do like the hex series and would recommend them to anybody.

Using the search tab I found some posts claiming that the newer s600's were made in china and that they weren't the diamond speaker of the past. Any truth to this? If I order a set of s600 's form sonic elect. will the box state "made in china" or are they selling cheap copies. Thanks for your input, I really don't wanna waste $200.00, If their the real thing, it is a good deal right?

I am not sure of that. I know the ones I was using were made in the USA pre buyout. You could ask them where they were manufactured just to be on the safe side.

Thanks, I'll do that, post buyout is rarely a good thing. If they're a closeout of old stock thats one thing, If they're the chinese copy, then they probably aren't worth a hundred bucks.

Do0d, that buyout has been a while ago. I seriously doubt there is any of the old stock around.

And anytime you hear soemone say how much they liked their DA comps, be sure to find out when they bought them. Tis a shame people are still buying these comps based on the reputation of versions that have not been made in a long time.

Does pioneer make anything good these days aside from head units?

I had the Diamond Audio Hex 600a and found them lack Midbass big time. They did sound really good when it came to the Tweets. I changed to the Polk SR6500 and all I can say is WOW!!!!!!

The mid on the Pioneer set is top notch. It really could sell for much more money. The Hex drivers are decent, but sort of aging. You'll get good results from either. The tweeter in the Hex set is better, but the mid in the Pioneer set is better. If midbass is your concern, the Pioneer set is the way to go.
