Well lets see, had my 3 1508s and middle port blowing through the rear seats....not loud enough, so I decided to do 4 and a 6" aero!

About 3.5 ft^3 tuned to ~37hz...

It's no BJfisher box, Bit It's nice, and solid!

http://img206.imageshack.us/img206/4809/1508s005ml3.jpg
I still need to seal it off from the rest of the trunk...

and the car it's in, my baby:D

Needless to say, it's loud as fock compared to my 3...aero port made a big difference! I'm pretty sure it's mid 140's around 38hz!

1. These are 8's, not tens.
2. I guesstimated mid 140s, it might be louder, I'm waiting to meter it.
3. I'm going to put a couple peices of mdf inside to make a box a bit smaller, so I have a bit better cone control. Can't do a loading wall unfortunatly. I'm not going for competition this is for daily "OMFG 8's arent's supposed to do that" setup, so it's tuned lower:)

am i serious u say? hell yea i was serious but i didnt know that those were 8 's dont get your panites all in a bunch man. well i thought u was going for competion but i stand corrected, tune it at 34 or a little higner and do what u want, but i still say turn that box around and face them out and i bet u will tell a difference i kinow everyone 's car is different so some experimenting will have to take place happy building

sorry for the confusion

Oh no sorry if I sounded like a ****..I ment are you serious about sub up port back in a trunk car:p:

The box is facing forward because I don't want a rear facing setup anymore because of trunk rattling. Especially now with a CF trunk, outside the car with 1000w+ of subs back sounds like a old rusted oldsmobile with a 18 in it. This way I get 95% of the sound and no rattles outside:)

I still need to tune it a bit, box a bit smaller, then see if I'll keep the aeroport the same length with the bit higher tuning.

what year is your car? im working on a 03 M3 in a few months(when its warm hah) and he wants about 5-10 grand worth of stuff installed. are they easy to work on? after working on 2 e36's im going to assume no hahah

adas
02-10-2008, 09:42 AM
It's an 03, and is it easy to work on....well depends what part.....doors ****. theres no f'n room in the dash for headunits, so it's a ***** to fit em. It's nice having the battery in the back stock though:D
It's not easy to work on but it's definatly not too bad. :)

I'll put up the box design but it's a little wierd because it was the ONLY way to fit the box in right, and it's a tiny bit too big. Nothing a crap load of bracing and 45'ed corners can't fill up though:D

**** i was hoping atleast the doors would be easy. what type of speakers are in the car? i have searched a bit but really havent found the answer... all ive found is that its 10 speakers.
thanks for putting the box design up, ill need all the ideas i can get. he wants 3 12's but im hoping i can convince him to only do 2.

Thanks and yea i can always add things too it to take up room or mess with the design to fit my car. I might actually be getting rid of my 8's. Don't have a reason cuz let me tell you they are loud and you prolly know, but i just like having different setups and subs to listen to.

Well they have 2 setups, the stock, and Harmon/Kardon systems depends which he has. The HK has 10 speakers+ stock subs...doors aren't abck for just speakers, but if you want to make MDF baffles and have good mid bass, then yeah. it's a b!tch, including grinding away at the door panels

I was actually thinking of doing something like that with ed's 6.5s or some tang bangs, but i think i might do a one sub setup. I want a low end monster where i can throw a 20hz tone on it and watch my car shake, but might not find what i want.

Went to a comp today, metered 142.7 sealed up @ 38hz, 144.8 outlaw on TL. Not the best, but I think my box is a bit off, but then again, I'm fairly happy, it's a low tuned box....peaking at 38hz. I was at 140+ from 35-45hz so it's not peaky either ;)

Tomarrow is another comp, I'm thinking of putting some wood in the box, make it a tad smaller and higher tuned see if I can get to a 145.

It's no 150...but I had no clipped signal, the O scape on the meter was perfect so I know I can get a couple db's out of it with it tuned a bit higher and gain a bit higher.:veryhapp:

And brought home First place trophy, woot:)

Na, I have an Expedition for now, but its for sale. I ripped the system out a while back. It was in the next parking lot over so that the people with stuff to show off had more space.

Yeah, NPR is a little far from you, but I live in NPR and I made the drive to Sarasota!

Should be a good show though. Lots of people are saying they are going.
