I have a regular cab GMC Sonoma (S-10) and i want to get a topper on the back and remove the back window glass adding a boot to waterproof it. BLOWTHRU IS NOT AN OPTION as I will eventually be trading it in. I was going to build the box for a single L7 15" D2 running off my SX1250.1 @ 1 ohm. The box was going to be ported and 6 cubes tuned to around Kickers designs as seen here on page 30 with a 1" piece of MDF channeling the sound waves directly into the cabin:
http://www.kicker.com/06/tech-support/manuals/manuals/04SL7%20Tech%20Brief.pdf
now here is my crude scetch-up of the general idea of what i want to do
http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee320/brchd/gmc.jpg

will this work and be loud and sound somewhat decent? I did a 147.7@55 hz on the old AC mic on 1 L7 15" walled in my old 2003 Cavalier and that was on a MMats DHCX2200.05 in 4.5 cubes. What do you guys think this will sound like......cmon guys...i need some input here!!!!:crap:

how tall is your back window? Will it work...yes Will it work well...maybe, that comes from build quality.

I have no idea what you're asking.

I have no idea what you're asking. Its kinda like a blow through, the sub and port points up, the window is removed, and the top of the box and the remaining hole are sealed with a rectangular prism...

As far as functionality, I think you will have to make it very stiff to make it work well, not to mention you will have to install some kind of flex section as the bed flexes independent of the cab...

Im a lil lost with your sketch but I think I have the basic idea down. Years ago, when mini trucks were very popular, I saw a lot of these kinds of setups that I think your talking about.

I remember one guy had a Miti Mighty Max with (4) 15s (3 at a 30 degree angle each and the 4th firing from the bottom) in his back glass where the window use to be, was very very loud.

Its definately dooable.

Agreed, this is very doable. I had a ranger with 6 15's, 3 on each side V'd toward the cab. Sealed with 1 mmats d100hc. Built the entire enclosure into the the truck cap sealed the rear half with expanding foam. 6 kicker comp 15's and 1 amp doing 155+ on the old AC meter. Very impressive for 1997:D

box is way to big. Sub forward, port to passenger side. buy aero ports and do things loud the first time.

I loved it, been wanting to do another setup like that but I dont have the vehicle for it. Might have to look for a minitruck and some old school kicker comps:)

just do the blowthru. when you trade it in, put the panels back on and buy carpet/bedliner to cover the holes and dont tell em a **** thing.

this will be as much trouble As replacing the back window

Kicker recommends 3.0-6.0 for their L7 15s ported...do some research before replying without knowing your shlt.

what would be louder....the Kicker L7 15" on the SX1250.1, or my Mmats Dreadnaut 15" on the same amp?

I local guy here in town did that he didn't want to cut is truck and he had a topper so he took out the rear window, but the subs fired forward directly through the window opening not upfireing from the bed floor wich i think would be better for you to do also

here you go check out the truck pics

So since they recommend the max^ box, thats what your going for? . Thats why your WALL was pathetically quiet on the AC . I know what is loud with L7's, you don't?. I'm not the one asking for help.

But what do i know:wow:

i competed in MECA with Chris (i believe) with the dodge truck. If i remember right it was a sq truck that also metered 150+ if needed.

yeah that is correct he original had it for Sq but in the end after The T-lines were put in in 06 I thinkn he only tried one Sq comp. the rest of the season he did Spl it get wildly loud with them things right behind your head

couple weeks ago when i talked to him he was looking at getting rid of the truck for a mustang i should call him and see if that happened

i think he was a meca judge also. I have seen him at world finals, and at Da grove all the time in 06. He was always a nice guy. Ive been outta Meca this season so not sure his current status.

if you had read my post it was 4.5 cubes not 6.0 on the AC...and I belive 145.7 is pretty **** loud for stock electrical , single battery, and all.....since you know more than the kicker techs, what size box would you recommend...BTW I forgot to mention this is for a Daily Driver...not comps.....what size box and port tuning frequency?

well a 4.0 cube external areo port box tuned low (35hz) that PEAKED @ 44hz on MUSIC did a 150.2 on the TL. that was a trunk car. That was a teammate. My trunk civic did a 150.1 also at 44hz with same box on STOCK electrical, CAR OFF. My STOCK trunk car WAS 6 DB THEN YOUR WALL. Hence the state records etc.... Want me to continue? I told you what to do, but go with what the kicker site says. They do not SPONSOR the car team that i am on for nothing. All daily. **** i played Lil Jon at world finals, thats music?

Oh that 6 DB louder is assuming your AC was as tough as the TL, which we both know is FALSE.

This guy has a point.....I would probably take his advice and run with it;)
