Ugh. Tough. Phoenix Golds... http://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/3850
Only 26 bucks...but if you want any bass, they are gonna need to be amp'd.
PG is of course the forum boner... there's also some Alpine..... http://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/4418
According to Alpine specs..these respond down to 50hz, with 92db/w sensitivity.
The PG's cutoff on low end is 100hz, and only 89 db/w sensitivity.
Rap/hip hop is not an extremely demanding midbass application...

they will be amped with 100 wrms each
may be asking too much, but I would like to keep the round profile like 5.25's and 6.5s have
also, I am looking for mainly a midbass rather than a coaxial

MB quart has a good reputation for quality.
I'd rather go Seas or Vifa.

Lol, i'd rather go with 6" or 6.5"s!
But you gotta work with what you got.

The MB Quarts are very nice...and for a 4" very good quality...I'm speaking for the original German versions...I have a set BNIB of the MB Quart German made componets I've been trying to decide what to put them in.....right now I don't have anything for them :(

I will be doing another 6.5 in my doors, but I have a spot I can fit a 4" mid, and in a couple cars I have sat in, I really liked how their 4" mid sounded.........just don't recall what brands/models they were :(

I like the midbass output of my DLS R4s, but you'd have to buy the component kit to get a pair.

those pg's are garbage fo real. I had the 4x6's they dont need an amp and can't handle it anyways.
The alpines wont be much better.
Infinity kappa 4" 2 ways or dls ps4 2 way components would be my recommendation.
If you are looking for strictly midbass' like you said and not full component sets check out madisound.com. I would look specifically at the seas prestige 4.5's.
In all honesty though, no speaker under 5-6" is going to have adequate midbass for any acceptable volume.
Mb quart has 4" component sets if you like very lively and also very detailed tweeters.

So then you want a midrange, not a midbass, yes?

Maybe not in a car :D

correct. I can imagine what some people do with large cabinet designs on small drivers.

I was REALLY liking those Peerless until I saw the fs of 73 :(

You are 100% correct........ me > *******
Then an Fs of 73Hz means nothing if you're crossing over at 2 or 300Hz anyway :)

If you are looking for a midrange, I wouldnt be too concerned with a fs of 73hz. IMO of course.
Edit: too late.
