i have bought about 25 of these drives from him the past few months and about 7 have been DOA, but he has been great about replacing them

i would definately recommend running Western Digitals diagnostic test on them to scan them for bad sectors before you replace anything important with them

i resold most of them, but also used a couple for a few weeks to store movies on until i replaced them with 500gb drives and didnt have any problems with the two i used

last time i spoke with him he had about 14 drives left. i need to email him today so i will remind him about this thread so he can update

hey scooby, where are you getting that diagnostic? All i have been doing is hooking them up with my ext. case and just making sure the computer would recognize it, i hope i didnt get any bad ones, i sold all the ones ive gotten on ebay. :crap:

And i just snagged 8 more off him, so you guys better hope he has some left. lol

ya i did that at first, until my friend said his drive died within an hour of installing it.

turns out some were reading fine, but they had a ton of bad sectors. some were repairable, but some were dead and it wouldnt finish the test

one drive was fine until it started to heat up then it would start clicking like crazy:(

i have had it a long time, but i think this is where i got it
http://support.wdc.com/download/?cxml=n&pid=999&swid=3

the extended test takes a few hours, but i would rather spend that time than sell a bad drive i need to replace

sorry man, just relaying exactly what has happened to me with these

they are good drives, but being refurb it is hit or miss, luckily six501 is a great seller and very good with refunds:)

Naw I'm not worried about him at all. I just purchased more. These ill test more thoroughly, but I'm wondering about the ones I've sent out. Guess we will see what happens.

any non-refurbs? My roomate needs a new HDD, but he'd probably rather spend more money for a smaller HDD with a warranty.

I can vouch for these drives. I have had one for about a month, and it's still going great. I have used it as an external drive, internal drive, and an xbox drive. Mine is currently in my Xbox and it is used constantly for streaming media on my home network. For the past month, I have used it for about 17 hours a day since I have had it. Great drives, but again, these are refurbs, so they are infact hit and miss, as someone said earlier. Now that he's excepting PayPal, I may be in the market for a few more. :D How many do you have, and what type of discount can I get, Six? Give me a PM or email me, JeremiahCoffel@Gmail.com.

The drives that I've gotten off of him have been solid and doing well. Been used for about 4-5 months and no problems as of yet. If you can use IDE drives, definitely worth the $$$ to me.

I do have a couple 250 HDD's that I'm not going to use for sale. I got a deal I couldn't refuse on a new tower with 2 750GB drives. Gave the wife my tower, sold her old tower and now these are left.
