just for the heck of it....

let's mention titanium and silk domes or whatever....

titanium's supposed to sound sharper...

but instead of tweeters, some choose horns... and there's something called ribbons as well.. they are supposed to produce the most natural uncolored sounds, and are also a real pain to set the right soundstage....

Dont forget the cheap Peizo electric tweeters either. I just bought a pair at my local car audio shop. Audio X in Muscle Shoals Al. They werent but 15 dollars and if you ask me, I just hooked them up and dam* they are loud. Sensitvity of 97 db and I believe every bit of it. They dont go lower than 5000 hz but thats what mids are for heh?;)

tweeters are worth every penny that you spend on them and yes you get what you pay for. i have silk dome tweeter's running right now with canton 5.25" midbass. that is the same midbass speaker as the Mb Quart QSD that everyone seems to love the midbass but hate the tweeter. choosing horns or ribbons as you say is a good way to go if your a world class Sq performer otherwise there is no need plus, for newbies you will be in about 100 steps over your head.

Tweeters are too small? You have not seen the real stuff! Plus, your system NEEDS to have tweeter for high frequency responses! If you think tweeters are too small, then look at the Morel Supremos. They kick butt, and are CRYSTAL CLEAR!

i realize this....i dont have a "system", im just looking for the best sound possible while keeping the price down. So would I notice a big difference if i kept the 3.5" coax's and added tweeters? and dont say "get components".

Oh, it's a 3.5" coax... well, maybe you'll get more high frequencies...

what are you doing with the lower ones?

Tek
04-14-2003, 11:50 PM
the lower frequencies? right now ive got bass blockers up front on the 3.5 coax's so they pretty much act like really big tweeters. all the low frequencies are sent back to the 6x9's. I know its not great, but it works. And the 3.5"s sound good, theyre JL Audios.

are you sure that's smart? 3.5" sounds like a midrange size to me...

im confused...why isnt it smart? the 3.5"s are coaxials so they have tweeters as well as the woofer (if thats what u call it on a 3.5 lol). heres an auction of the same speakers that i have - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3017949409&category=14937

Alright, Morel Supremos are Car Audio and Home Theater speakers. They are expensive, yet clean. They sound ungodly, because they are so clean, and hit so hard, with clean notes. True, a normal person can't afford them. But, true if you want to win IASCA or USACi, Morels are ideal for true SPL. But not only are they loud, but they are clean, like I have said before.

Visit Morel Supremo's home site. These speakers hace awesome specs.

If you can't afford Morel Supremos, then MB Quarts are the next, in line. They can be expensive, they can be cheap. If you want to buy the best, you pay the price. If you want to buy not the best, but still good, then they're still ideal, for a normal person.

And yes, I do like Morel Supremos. And, if you had ever heard them in a car, then you would agree too. So, before you **** off like that again, dimwit, listen to them.

Perhaps you could give us a link to thier site ?

and how is Mb quart the next best brand .... have you heard of RE , ADIRE ?

And where am i going to listen to these ?

I wasn't aware that Adire and RE manufactures tweeters...

Adire's speaker kits come with Audax tweeters...

RE, I'm sure they don't...

Ok, it's gonna be hard to say that Morel are the best in the world, etc, etc...

true, it might be expensive, but there are other brands which will kick each other's behind till the cows come home...

Heard of Thiel and partner? Their Dİ÷20-6 series tweeters, prices for a PAIR would cost you about US$5000 or more. Membrane is one single piece of diamond. It's supposedly what all tweeter developers talk about. frequency response from 2kHz to nearly 100kHz!!

http://www.soundforum.co.kr/unit/thiel/D20-6_front_600.htm
read up about it here: http://www.thiel-partner.de/e_index_iexplorer1152.html

hell, there are HEADPHONES that cost thousands of dollars...

http://www.headphones.com

raven's ribbon tweeters have once been proclaimed the best tweeters in the world. I dont' believe it though. DOn't have the website.

dynaudio's stuff is not cheap, scan-speak, Peerles, etc... (http://www.vifa-speak.dk) there's quite a few that morel would shy away from in competitions. True SPL, I dunno, maybe morels can take it... but then again, SPL for high frequencies, don't think it can ever come close to a horn-loaded compression tweeter driver.

bottomline: I don't think there's any driver which can be said to be the best in everything, or even anything at all... maybe the most expensive, but that's it.

hey paikiah you out there? i think is sold you my Cdx C90, this is carl in oregon. if this is the guy i am thinking of let me know. any way, what has been said about the supremos being the highest of quality, well i just replaced my Focal Utopia tweets with Supremo's and they make a world of difference. you need a good clean system and amps to take advantage of them but when you do this, look out, you will hear sounds you have never heard befor. well thats my two cents!
