Get rid of the "beats nails" product and then you'll be in good shape.

yeah, the beast nails was my step dads that he had lyin around the house, so i thought id save myself some money...alternatives? or just say screw the liquid nail thing all together?

bumpin buick:
I was having a hard time deciding how big i wanted my box to be...it took me a good week to get a design that fit in my gay trunk...this one should fit pretty nice, i think ive seen a few people with enclosures that big...hopefully it sounds good..

Your cuts look good; you shouldn't need any sealant on the inside as long as all your joints are nice.

Looking pretty good. With a sub from 97cavy and a amp from me it defenatly will be loud. Are you going to cover the box in anything?

Trying to get a nice gloss black finish is just as difficult and way more time consuming to do. It requires a lot of time, patience, and prep work.

nice combo
build looks good..i personally think u could have went wider on the box...so u can decrease in depth so u can buy back alittle trunk room....but other than that 3.7 with 48square inch port should be nice and loud

Got a few more sides done on my box today... did some sanding...and put it in my trunk to see if it fits, and it does wonderfully :D

put the 2 port sides together and put on the inner front side...i didnt think that one out too good cuz i couldnt put any screws to the front/port...hopefully it doesn't cause me any harm in the long run..also i dont think my cut was perfectly straight on the bottom, it wasnt touching on the entire thing...but i got 3 screws in the bottom...im prayin it will stay good enough:crap:

port pieces glued screwed and clamped
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a348/emd2260/CIMG0423.jpg

next piece to go on will be the outter front piece...then the top:veryhapp:
http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a348/emd2260/CIMG0417.jpg

now all i have to do is wait for my amp to get here...which, UPS put it on reschedule for the 7th:furious:...then i have to put in the wires, which im kind of nervous about, seeing how i've never done it before...can you guys give me a few basic tips?:crap:

Alright, Im having a bit of a dilema here... my memphis 4 awg wiring kit came with a 200 amp inline fuse..Im going to be installing the big 3 with the left over 4awg...but i dont know what fuse to use for it? and also, a few guys from ROE were saying that the 200 amp fuse is way too much for my setup, and to down grade...so what 2 fuses should i down-grade to exactly? on another note, i went to autozone today to get ready to install everything...some new battery terminals..hope those were the ones i was supposed to get :crap: and some more connectors for the grounds..

I think you will be fine with that fuse, I had a 200amp on my setup (Orion 1200d) and it worked fine.

thanks for the comments guys! and yeah..the stock head unit was a pain in my a$$, took a good 2 hours to just get it out and switched with the new one...not to mention the driver side bracet on it was broken, so every now and then i hit a hard bump it comes poppin out on that side...but everything stayed in luckily... and i dont plan on changing the stock speakers, im going to be getting rid of it in a few months so i said fock it and just wait until i get a new car...did you guys stay with the stock alts in your taurus?

so some guys on smd.com realized that i screwed up...RF says that the terminals are 2 or 1/0 awg wire, and i have 4, so really i got too small of an amp kit and too big of a fuse huh?

should i just return this wiring kit and get (2 - amp and big 3) 1/0 kits from knukonceptz?....or will i still be good with this?

anyone have any suggestions please?? :crap:

It's always better to be bigger when it comes to wire, but 4g should only carry about 100A according to this page:

https://weldingsupply.securesites.com/cgi-bin/einstein.pl?Next::1:UNDEF:OR:terms::PA

Not sure how much current that RF amp will draw, but remember, the fuse is in the wire to protect the WIRE... the amp should always be fused separately. Not sure if those RF T-series amps are fused or if you're supposed to do it externally.

To calculate more things about your amp, wire gauge, speaker wire size, etc., go here:
http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/wire_calculator.asp

I just used that, and it's a pretty nifty little tool they've got.

<edit> When I checked your amp's output power and efficiency on that RF page, I saw that it will draw about 130+ amps, I think... so you'll need a bigger wire, I'm guessing.

BTW, those battery terminals you got at Autozone... do they accept 1/0? Or are those two larger openings for 4g? How much was the pair? I might consider some of those. :D

emd2260
01-07-2008, 12:52 PM
thanks for the help tRdoc, finally haha..i know they accept 4 awg, and possibly 2, i cant really remember, and it was like 24.99 for a pack with + and -...hell, considering i need to probably sell those, ill sell em to ya if you want them, because that wire is basically no good to me now :crap:

Sorry, I need dual 1/0 with 1-2 other spots as well. ;) Sorry. :(

emd2260
01-07-2008, 12:57 PM
aah its cool man, im sure i can still use them somehow haha...so do you think i should just maybe try to get my money back for this 4awg kit..bought it from a local shop...and get 1/0? maybe get 2 kits for knukonceptz...cuz i need one for doing the big 3 as well..

tRidiot
01-07-2008, 12:59 PM
I don't see why you need a whole other 1/0 kit for the Big Three unless you just really want to. It will have alotta stuff in it that you won't need.

Maybe just buy some extra 1/0 and ring terminals from weldingsupply.com ?

emd2260
01-07-2008, 01:00 PM
true..on smd.com it says on the big 3 tutorial that you need a fuse for it...so maybe just get an extra fuse?

tRidiot
01-07-2008, 01:56 PM
Indeed.

my memphis 4 awg wiring kit came with a 200 amp inline fuse

I've never intentionally shorted out a 4 gauge wire with a 200 amp fuse to see what will happen, but according to the ampacity rating of the wire it will melt. I think you need a smaller fuse or larger wire.
