sketchup design

a couple of sketchup noob questions. how do you "build" it using wooden panels as opposed to lines? here's what i have so far. not to scale yet. will be built for 3 10's sealed and downfired. the text in the sketches will not be put on in actuality. critique my sketchup abilities please. i need a little help.

build it using wooden panels rather than lines? do you mean add thickness to the piece?
if so, use the push/pull tool.
it is between the paint bucket and the move/copy button
draw the "panel" and then click it with the push/pull tool and move it a little bit in the direction you want thickness of the panel to be
type 3/4 then push enter
it should make your panel 3/4" assuming you are wanting to do that for 3/4" mdf
