I just got a new 2007 sport trac and am looking to put in a new system, I have narrowed my choices down to The JL XR series components, the Focal polyglass components, and the CDT CL components. What do yall think of these component sets, plusses and minuses to all of them and which you would buy for a listening style that includes and lot of country music and rock.

All help is appreciated.

the xr series are rediculous,, My old friend has 2 sets in his jeep and the sound quality is unreal..

if you go cdt go (at a minimum) the ef 61 cfi. i have owned a pair of the cl 61's and i absolutely hated them. then i bought the cfi's and i loved them. my friend has a pair of the HD's from cdt and they rock too.

if your limiting yourself to like the cl classics, i wouldnt even consider them on par with the jl or the focal.

i do like my BA pro 60's too :)

Are these the ones your talking about, and I just want to make sure the people who are recommending the Focal's, I am talking about the polyglass, not the K2P's. I know the K2P's are good, they are the best speakers I have ever heard, but I can't afford them, I just want to be clear on that.

Thanks for all the help and keep it coming.

With the CDT, do yall think it is worth the extra 200 dollars to upgrade to the HD over the EF series? Also, I want to make sure that these will fit in the door of a 2007 sport trac so any help on that will be appreciated as well.

sort of. those come with the satnet 400 xover...i prefer the 560...by a lot.

also your going to need to make mdf rings to get them to fit in the sport trac doors. or you can buy 5x7(6x8) to 6.5" plates to get them to fit.

the 560 really changes the sound of that set A LOT. i try hard not to even order any 400 series xovers when i place orders. i try to have 560 standard across everything i sell. the 400 really doesn't cut it except with the CL sets. EF and higher need 560's. with 560's, its a pretty darn good set.

Well what could you get me on a set like that with the 560 crossover, and what kind of amp would you recommend for it as well.

I think I'm going to go with the EF 61CFI's or the HD 62, I just need a reason to justify the extra $150. If anyone has an opinion on whether or not it's worth it I would like to know. Also what kind of amp would yall recommend, as I will be running 2 sets, 1 set up front and 1 set in the rear.

Anything that does a solid 150x2 rms will work fine for the task. What's your budget for the amp? Some good ones would be JL 300/2, Alpine PDX-2.150, Kicker SX600.2.

And the extra 150 all goes to refinement. Just a better sound all around.

i know djdilliodon on here used to sell the 61cfi sets with the tw25 and the upgraded 560 xover for $220 shipped. this was a couple years ago though, when i bought my 2 sets and friend bought 3 total. not sure what hes doing now a days. well, i mean hes still a authorized dealer, but i dont know what his current line up is.

exige might be able to hook you up though.

I've narrowed it down to the HD 62 and the EF61's, my question is, the truck is a four door so if I put speakers in all four doors, I will go with the EF61's and if I go with the speakers in the front I will go with the HD's, and leave the rear speakers stock. What would yall go with?

its all personal preference. if your just looking to get loud, it cant hurt to get speaker both in the front and rear doors and amp them.

however, if your looking for something along the lines of an actual sound stage, you dont want that rear fill.

personally i prefer only having speakers in front, but its gonna come down to you. fade all the way to the front and see how you like it.

HD-62/M6 M6 midbass driver upgrade $375 shipped
HD-62 standard set $300 braxial add $30
ES-62i crazy deal below dealer cost!!! $400 shipped
EF-61CFi/25 fully upgraded $235 shipped

I assume the cfi/25 fully upgraded includes the 560 sat net.

that's a bit ironic...I work directly with Don and he told me he was getting out of selling lol. Anyways, topping those shouldn't be an issue.

From our conversations it sounded like your passengers were very important. If so go with 2 EF's. If not though, grab an HD set, or even for the price right now, an ES-62i set.

I just got back from my installer, so tell me if this is a good system.

Front speaker amp: JL 300/2
Front Speaker: ES-62i

Sub amp: A1200
Sub: Custom ported box containing 1 8w3v3 under the rear seat.

Now with the front speakers. They will be contained in the stock speaker location and the full door will be sound deadened. The mid will be in the stock location and the tweeter will be in the A-Pillar.

All advice is appreciated.

Thanks for the advice, all I was worried about was if the ported 8w3v3 would be enough to go along with the ES speakers. Thanks everybody for your advice and recommendations.

Awesome set!

As a side note for everyone who asked about me, Im now the national sales rep for cdt audio. While i will hook forum members up as it was something i have done for over 5 years now i mostly setup and sell to dealers. Exige is a great guy to deal with and will also give great deals to any forum members. You can all still feel free to contact me via AIM, email, or by phone for tech help ect :)

Thats who I got them from. Mike from Exige, was a great guy to talk to. Answered all my questions and got me an awesome deal. When these things came they were in a huge box with about 6 layers of bubble wrap and the speakers are perfect. I highly recommend purchasing from him. I can't wait to hear these things in my truck tomorrow.
