I **** at decks and new to this iPod or that fact MP3 player. I ordered a 3.5m/m cable and just got it and thought it direct connected into my player. Well it don't. I guess I should have checked to see if my cord from my iPod would have fit what I thought was the hole, but didn't. Noobish of me. I was told by a couple well respected members here I didn't have to take the deck out to hook this cord up.

My question is do I have to take the deck out to put this cord into it? I have to find my key card thing to even take it out, but wanted to see if I am just missing something or I need to take out the deck to put this in.

I mean all I will be out is a few bucks, but I really wanted to use this in my car with out having to get a mod of some sort.

Thanks for any help at all.

Hopefully faulkton or Flip see this. I guess I could PM them.

or

you can get a 3.5 to 2.5 mm adapter to go from ipod headphones, to the front (aux 2) on the HU

only thing is that they put it in a funny location, its on the bottom of the faceplace.

I was told to just get the 3.5mm cable and it should go from ipod headphone jack to deck. I thought it was the little hole when you flip it down and is too small. Not sure what that is now.

Pimp do I also need a 3.5mm as well?

Yeah, I know I can go that route, but was trying to stay cheap and I can charge the ipod on my computer when it needs a charge.

I have already spent 500 bucks this Christmas. Trying to go cheap route.

Ah, I am thinking Faulkton told me the wrong thing for it. Easy mistake. I just have the wrong cable is all. So I need a 3.5 to 2.5 mm cable. Correct?

This should suffice, right?

Hey Pimp, if I get the iPod interface adaptor, what other cables do I need?

I am gonna get it, but need to know before I purchase it.

Thanks for anymore info.

you don't need anyother wires. That is all, comes with everything you need.

no problem I have one and they are awsome. Make it so much easier than the RCA cable I had before. Also a lot safer then looking at the ipod while driving.

you need an adapter, or a cable with 3.5 on one side and 2.5 on the other...rare to find local, but easy on the net.

trust me I would look at the ipod for so long trying to find the song I wanted. The interface just makes it easier because it is on a bigger screen and easier to find the song.

I guess the 2.5mm to 3.5mm jack should work. My friend has a 7700 and a direct jack from headphone output to the deck, and he doesn't use it because he has to use the iPod to pick through his songs. I got the iPod bus system for my iPod and PRS880, and I'm much happier with it. The functions on the 880 mimick the iPod, and it works a lot easier i think. Plus, like has been mentioned, it charges the iPod. So i think the bus system is worth the extra dough. Plus it was easy to install.

Mine is set up to both CHARGE the ipod (via USB) and transmit the data to play songs (via 3.5 mm jack). Its pretty ghetto but this is what i did:

I used one of those fm-transmitters you plug into your lighter-socket. It has a usb input, which i ran to the ipod (actually an off brand mp3 btw); then I ran a 3.5mm jacked cord to it too; You cant see it in this pic...but I taped the two wires together with electric tape all the way up to make it as one wire. Its pretty ghetto...but it works. And my mp3 player (ipod knock off) NEVER Runs out of battery power :)

Thanks for your guys help, much appreciated!

I got both the the Ipod interface adaptor for 39 bucks off Amazon.com and free shipping, so that was a decent deal when everyone else wanted 50 bucks plus shipping.

I also got the 3.5mm to 2.5mm cable from headphone jack to deck just in case I don't like how slow the interface adaptor is, which I have heard is the big thing that ***** about them. They did say if you don't have a lot of memory and is flashbased, then should work pretty good. I have the iPod Nano at 8gigs, so should be alright, but better safe than sorry. I did hear that the interface ipod gives off better SQ. So I will probably stick with that, but we will see.

Again thanks for all the help.

Didn't have a clue what to tell my parents to get me and was on the lines of saying I don't need anything. So thanks! :)

IIRC iPods have a high pass filter on the headphone jack. If you don't use the interface you can lose bass response.

Well that 3.5mm to 2.5mm should suffice till I get my sub after income tax.

Once I get the sub, I will put in the iPod interface adaptor and I should be ok with the bass then, or I hope.
