they look ugly...definitely a step fown from last year's stuff in terms of looks. I hope they fixed the RCA issues...

i'm glad to see at least a few of them don't have stupid flip down doors for cd access. i can't stand that. i don't like having to lower the front panel to remove the cd. it's too gimmicky. i like straight forward access.

Pioneer make good cd players and stuff, but from a company standpiont, they are a pain in the *** to do business with and loyalty means nothing to them. Store i work for used to be a premier dealer until pioneer said they didn't want to do business with a small retailer anymore. We were one of the first premier dealers in the U.S. back in the 70's

my buddy runs an independent radio shack here in town...and wanted to sell premier, and pioneer said they were too small...and too close to another dealer (45 min away!) i was wanting the pr880....and couldn't get it because of those douche bags.

The one thing that pisses me off about pioneer, and i ripped my product specialist and sales rep, is that they claim that Premier is a line ment for "authorized" dealers only and that you couldn't get it online or from distributors, but they ***** the stuff out to everyone. I said to my rep, how do you expect us to sell this stuff when they can go to etronics and get it for my cost. He says that they don't buy directly form them and i said to him thats bullshit. Our last year we sold $50,000 worth of pioneer stuff and they said that wasn't good enough and cut us off.

nothing special at all.I still think the older pioneer products were the best like many other car audio things.

I have a newer 7600mp that has the ground problem, and besides the ground problem when you turn it up you hear background noise when the track isnt even playing. A customer of mine called Pioneer the other day and asked about his 8600 (which has similar problems) and they actually outright told him to ground the outter sheath of the RCA's to the frame of the radio. AN ACTUAL DEALER CUSTOMER SUPPORT PERSON TOLD HIM THIS! Now he's just returning his head unit back to where he bought it from for a refund.

You know, I can take my 7600 out of my Jeep, and hook up a 1992 Pioneer Supertuner III tape deck to the same exact RCA outputs and have zero noise. Sad **** right there.

Yesterday I bought an Alpine 9833..... the 7600 is going in the trash :fyi:

He's gonna return an 8600? 3 year old deck?

Wow what place is gonna take it back?

Many headunits have background hiss when the track is not paying at high volumes.

If you want to send me that 7600 to work on let me know.

I was gonna snag that 9833 before you got it :( I got screwed though, from paypal and an ebayer.

:

That is the only way to avoid the ground issue, by grounding the RCA's to the chassis of the radio. This also prevents a costly repair because the fuse on the board will blow and its a pain in the *** to fix. Fuse is about half the size of a grain of rice.

nismos14

You can also avoid it or repair it on your own, not too difficult :)

Meh, all companies have issues, it's as simple as re-grounding the headunit.. & boom. No noise.

Did it w/mine, I love my 7800.

you're right, comparatively, they are ugly. however, having to lower the face to remove/insert a cd is ultimately needless and more of a "cool" feature than useful. albeit, the major purpose of them is to allow more info to be displayed how many lines of text are really necessary?

2008? i have that exact same one on my car right now. its got 5.5volt preouts. i fawking love it. it has every option a man could ever want from a headunit. definitely a completely different animal than my first pioneer deck where you could only tweak bass and treble LOL. oh and LOUD on/off.

Who said this is the new lineup.?? This looks like the Japanese or Chinese versions of the '07 lineup to me. Also, Pioneer's new models don't usually launch til late spring. Perosnally, if the 880 and 980 are the flagships once again I will just shake my head at Pioneer. Nothing against the 880 but it's been out for 2 model years now and it's time for a new SQ deck from Pioneer. Other than the P9 that is.

Wow. My local Premier dealer is pretty small and Pioneer hasn't tried to pull the plug on them yet. Actually that sounds pretty weird. I mean who else is going to carry Premier?? The chains carry cheaper line and brick and mortars have always carried Premier. Well, I hope that doesn't happen here by me.

I was told by a pioneer rep that no big box stores will carry premier, only mom and pop stores, but now everyone is saying pioneer is dropping smaller stores, so i dont know.... Either way, It will be interesting to see what they release this year. Ide like to see an 880 replacement. Nothing flashy though, classy like the 880. awaits ces show to see the new lines..

Pioneer press release says its the new lineup.

Most models barring the higher end are already available in the Asian markets even though its the 2008 series.

Just saying.

Looks like it's the 980 and 880 once again, though I'm suprised they didn't update them with new features. They have a nice line of double-din units I haven't seen before, and also carry over the same design to some single din units (7000bt, 700bt, 6000bt, 600bt, 5000bt....etc) They give them a sleeker design with a flat face and more streamlined rotary knob, and also integrate USB 2.0input for Ipods with an alphabetical search feature along with file navigation for other USB drives/MP3 players. This would have been a HUGE upgrade for the 980 and 880 since it would eliminate the need for the CD-IB100ii, which is a hastle to install and also has lag issues with my ipod, personally (w/ a 980bt). I personally don't know what Pioneer was thinking.....

umm its always possible but i dont think ever guaranteed. check this (http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=198477) out. I did it and it works perfectly, except my amp is crappy so sometimes i have problems with it, but that not the cd player its the amp.

I also found this interesting...

Clarion will launch some new 2008 products ahead of its full introduction next year. These products have just been shipped out from our factory.
Pioneer & Clarion have now realized the potential of standard connectivity in the head units. On December 6th, Pioneer launched its new head units - made for India & ready to take on anything (AUX-IN), iPod & USB. And On 10th, Clarion introduced two head units with USB connectivity, that were supposed to be launched in 2008.

See these models here: http://acousticsforyou.com/news/2007/12/new-head-units-by-clarion-india.html
