These are all great :) Keep 'em coming - hopefully I'll be able to contribute before long.

Az, I'm still in love with those Porsche wheels. Best atypical wheel choice I've seen. Proud to have my sticker in there :)

Nice car, but lets get some pics of the ghia! :)The ghia is pretty much stock as you see it there (kinda, lol). I'm building a motor for it as we speak (1776cc), and as soon as that it done I'll get started on tearing it apart for the rebuild. I've just been doing to much work on my trucks ('93 Typhoon & bagged '92 blazer) to focus on the ghia, but that will change shortly.

Wewt we have our own thread!

2003 GTI VR6 with around 60,000 on the odo. Every option in the book. Has the rare (limited/test production run from what I understand) cup holders in the console between the seats and not that flimsy pop-out turd above the radio.

A shot of the 20% Sungard Endurance tint a day after the job was completed.

The rest of these pics I took about a month after I got the car:

Former owner was a foreman on housing construction sites, so there was quite a bit of dust and dirt everywhere.

After a quick wash-down of the engine compartment. Was still kinda cruddy, so I had to degrease it.

Not hatin on the GTi's but...

What all do you have done to that R32 other than exhaust and debadged?

I was playing with a stock on the other day, **** good race(MazdaSpeed3 here)

oxsign
12-28-2007, 12:50 PM
Full Borla exhaust from the header back, wilwood big brake kit with the factory calipers, & a cold air intake. That's it for now. The next step is a chip/reprogram, and possibly a stage 2 turbo. That's what the wife wants done to it.

im getting an older gti soon - like the silver one i think? probably a lil newer - 92 or 91 rings a bell but im not sure at all - red with black interior - its some kind of special one - idk my sister told me about it - her bf is a vw fanatic and bought this red one as his beater for the MN winter - he lets his baby rest in the garage.

but supposedly i will be buying the red one from him come spring.
I'm pumped

pics of his baby asap - he write for vw magz and his car should be quite known.

And after 10 years of driving a stick, and falling head-over-heals for the MKV, here's my new one, on steelies and Dunlop Wintersport M3s, the best "mod" I've ever spent money on. DSG, package 2. This car is almost too nice for me. Almost. :p:

Still working on the audio.

Lowered on Ksports, with a lot more to go, even in the back. Wheels are denvers, (17") not huffs (18") As it sits now, it has ATP 3" downpipe, Evoms intake, REVO stg 2 with sps controller.. Newsouth boost guage/steering wheel mount pod. Coming friday will be the bsh DV kit and a v-twin. Soon to come are rota p45f's flatblack with red time attack stripe (being made as we speak). Reason car is sitting the way it is would be because the back is getting raised after i get my wheels, and i didnt feel like messing with it 3 times.

On that note working on a bigger turbo kit as we speak but that means gotta build the motor now...it will get done eventually...

7" kenwood touchscreen indash, Kicker components in the doors pushed by a kicker kx 350.2 CVR 12 in a ported box in the back with a reworked zr360 and a custom installed xm commander molded into the sunroof motor access cover here are some pics:

sweet satalite radio thing, id like to see it match the headliner - but i like :)

im in the navy and ill be going on cruise feb of 09, and then after 5 months we get 4 months off, and then go out for another 5 month deployment. so ill have a solid 15 months or so of saving money. after car payments, bills and taxes, thats like 20 grand. i figure i wont spend much in port or in between cruise.

pay the car off the first time around, then save until im back.

sweet vdub tho!

Thanks man! Your install/dub is sweet also.... Hopefully my headliner and pillars will be getting covered in black suede soon to make the interior all black instead of the 2 tone.....

cool beans. my headliner is starting to sag right above the sun visors in the center corners where that sunroof motor part bumps up on either side :(

thats my next interior modification. but i dont want to mess with the A pillar air bags. bah!

I think an '03 GTI is gonna be my next car.

i may do a GTI as my next one too..but really know nothing about them.

from a few mins research, a 1.8t with the K04 kit and full exhaust should boost you to around the ~230whp and ~250tq range, correct? fine with me :)

req
06-17-2008, 06:44 AM
just remember, the 1.8T has issues with the waterpump\timing belt. if you get one with 50~100k miles on it, REMEMBER to ask if it has had the timing belt replaced and a new water pump replaced with a metal impeller on it. stock 1.8t's have a plastic impeller on the water pump it looks like this ;

http://farm1.static.flickr.com/191/445950184_559b8222bf_o.jpg

it should look like this;

http://amp82.co.uk/tt/timingbelt/waterpump3.jpg

as you can see the plastic end in the first picture broke down and got all messed up. the problem with this whole job is the waterpump is ran off the timing belt. and i do not trust myself taking my engine virtually out so that i can save a few dollars. i ended up going to a dealership for a warranty (local shop offered $200 less, but i know if it messes up i can go to the dealership and get it fixed for free). i ended up paying $1000 for parts and labor, its about a 4~6 hour job.

just thought i would let you know. keep an eye out for that. always ask the seller that question and if they say no, then knock the cost of it off. because it is a 'factory falt' and it needs to be addressed.

but otherwise, they have their little quirks, but they are HELLA fun to play around with and there are tons of parts for them :)

So true on the water pumps i just turned 60k on mine and im planning on doing the timing belt/water pump here this summer if i dont pull it and build it first for the Big Turbo...who knows either way im not looking foward to doing it at all.

in response to Zxcvtypo it all depends on which tune you have and supporting mods but that was good ball park numbers for the Ko4 and turbo back exhaust

Im pretty much maxed out with my setup minus the bigger intake manifold but wont gain much with this setup thats more a Big Turbo mod. i want to get dynoed this summer with this setup but im still tweaking it yet....im shooting for 265-285 whp and over 350 ftlbs at the wheels

theres a guy over on vortex that got 258whp and 322wtq out of the stock Ko3s turbo now i wouldnt drive it daily like that with the cranked wastegate but needless to say there is alot of hidden power to be had if setup right

I don't have any pic's of my vw's; but I used t own an '87 GTI 16v. A soccer mom backed up into it driver rear quarter panel when it was parked on the street:verymad:.

My favorite vw I owned though was my '91 Jetta Wolfsburg. It had a limited edition Seafoam Green paintjob. I dropped it about 2" tinted it limo black and it rolled on vw Pirrelli P-Wheels (really rare stock vw rims). I had bought a rotted out golf for 50 bucks & did an auto to manual swap on it. GLI exhaust; K&N; and rockford He2's were in the trunk. It became a victim of bad electrical after a while & I sold it.

Oh yeah, I also owned a Fox Wagon. Biggest piece of shtcar I ever owned. I did a reverse slam burnout(4spd stickshift) once so hard it literally blew the exhaust off the car from the cat back.

I know this was a really old post; but going by the bumpers and grille it's a '90-'92 golf. '85-'89 Golf/Jettas had a smaller bumper without that overhang and the grille had many more louvers. It also lacks the round headlights that a gti had.

Most of that stuff can be swapped around, but you have to replace the core support to install round headlights.

I got different rca's that are black and braided like the power wires but didn't take new pix since a couple months ago. also have black rca's for the in on the maxlink sitting here because the wife wants an SUV now so we're probably going to trade the vw in. not to **** in the thread but I personally hate the car and sometimes probably once a week want to run it over to get rid of it. its just small as hell which annoys me. it's european so it's a huge pita to work on imo. and just generally don't have any love for it. so I'm stoked the wife wants it gone. we've had it for like 2 or 3 years now which is a little too long for a car I don't appriciate. I hate the damm turbo too, gas it and it doesn't move then when it kicks in it pulls all of a sudden. irritates me on turning from a stop. my truck is far from stock and she can't loose me in her car even with 35"s sitting on 20"s clearly it gets better mileage but I didn't get a big truck and put on power additives and larger tires to get good mileage lol. they're nice cars. just not one I appriciate. I'm actually pretty picky I guess as I have issues with my truck too and want to get a power stroke with like an 8" 4 link setup instead :D probably go with 37s on 20"s instead of the 35"s I'm sitting on now.. vdubs are nice, just not my cup of soda ;) more of a tea cup really and I'm a hard core cocacola addict so it really doesn't suit me and I get irate just having to ride in it usually. nor could I even own a honda I don't think. they're nice and I know they last forever if you don't put a folgers can where the muffler used to be. but clearly I'm more of a truck person lol
