I just need some quick dimensions for a "simple" ported box for two 12" type R's...

13" high would be perfect. Or it could be 14" high, but, would have to be shorter.

use the RE enclosure calc or one of the many other calcs and experiment with them. to get the results you want.

According to Alpine you want .75 - 1.75 cu ft per sub. That's after you subtract port area.

Look here for a design that meets your height requirement and is between 1.5 and 3.25 cu ft. 3 cu ft would probably be pretty good:

Here's one that's 3 cu ft and is 15.5 inches high:

I'm kinda confused... Whats "square port length 1" and "square port length 2"??? Then there is also "total port length"

Also would ~35hz be good port tuning?

Anyone?

I just know that this is the most important part of making it sound good, and I want to do it right..

get a beer carton and make a box that will fit in it nicly then do it again and whalla you have two nice stealth boxes that will hod the subs nice and if you get the right carton of beer no one will nab it

35hz would probably be good, maybe even going as low as 32hz

After fiddling with the RE box calculator and using Alpines suggested specs of 1.7 cubes and a slot port of 12" high, 1.25" wide, and 21" long nets a tuning of 29hz

But seeing how popular the Type R is I'm sure others can pop in with what works best for them.

As best I can tell you can ignore the "square" part of those the port length 1 is from the outside of the box towards the back and is set in stone based on the overall depth of the box and the width of the port, port length 2 is the length of the port along the backside of the box.

Do you have any other MAX dimensions other than the height of the box? like can it be up to 60" wide or 30" deep, some more max dims would help with someone to come up with a design for ya, something around 4cubes tuned between 30-35 would probably work good for you.

I'll get some dimensions later today, when I get the car back.

Heres what I got for my TOTAL outer dimensions.

36" wide, 21" deep, and 15" high.

Here is what I came up with. Its 3.67 ft^3 and as best I can tell tuned to 31hz. I'm not very good with ported boxes though so hopefully someone can confirm this tuning, or I can fiddle around with it a bit more and try to tune it higher if thats what you want.

If this is right I can make some cut sheets for ya and such as well.

SWEET. So My dads friend does really nice wood work and stuff. He is building our fireplace right now, and told me that he would go ahead and make the cuts for me if I wanted.

So now I get perfect cuts!

Thanks for the help, appreciate it!
