Little bit of a short notice, but MECA finals is this weekend.

I've been busy trying to get all my crap ready that I forgot to make a thread earlier. :crap:

Anyways, this year it's back in Nashville at the Tennessee state fairgrounds. The address is 625 smith avenue, nashville, TN.

And unfortunately I will be the only phat hertz member there (besides one of our SQ competitors) :crying:

Last minute changes/money issues/no time/equipment breakages have taken a toll on our team this year.

This year all the cars are inside buildings, so no worries about getting rained on like last year. The testing area is "outside", but it's in a big covered pavillion so no worries there either. This place is a LOT nicer than the location last year. It has to be in an open area since the fire marshall would not allow running cars inside the buildings. Oh well.

I'm leaving tomorrow (friday) around 10ish, so I hope to see some of you there. :)

I will be there and be square.

It's pretty easy to get to. I would pay to park. Parking on the street around there could be questionable.

The one notable score that I just cannot get over is eric alexanders driveby score. An ABSOLUTELY insane 136.7 dB!!!!!

That score is from 6 feet away from the passenger window (meaning outside the car), 30 second average on music!! Needless to say, I don't see ANYONE beating that number for a LONG time. Tommy Mckinnie was the previous record holder at 133.2. Eric beat that by 3.5 dB!! With half as many subs and less power!

And on his second run he destroyed his windshield and still managed a 136+. His peak hold measurement was 138.4.

I was standing next to the van when the windshield went, and his van was the MOST violent and crazy thing i've ever seen. And i've seen every loud dB dragger and bassracer out there.

Insane is the only word I can use to describe it.

Thanks.

I got a few pics that I'm gonna upload now.

I'm guessing that number wasn't with the "flexing" box you had at the meet a few months ago LOL

You also did very well on driveby, way ahead of everyone else in your class. You got your **** together for sure.

Nah, I had a different box. Haha. :D

Also, pretty much everyone in driveby 1 had lots of problems with blowing fuses or scores just being way down. I myself was about 2 dB down but was luckily still able to pull off the win.

Even with the slow start he still managed a 136.5!!!

And here's my pics of the aftermath :D

Whyd he like lurch it real quick right before his run started?

You start 5 feet back from the sensor, so you have to "drive" up to it. Hence "driveby"

Ohhhhh, you cant just start next to the meter....so the faster you get to that spot the better your score...haha...anyone ever just overshoot horribly and hit somethin?

GODAM! 136.7 HOLY ****. With that same Magic Mike song. I always thought that song ****** because of the little pauses, but I guess not! I bet Mike shat his pants haha. Dam, I wish I was still an amateur, woulda taken 1st in AS1 instead of being beaten by a gayass rex. Should have also went to defend DB2 :( did a 123.3 last year and this year. Oh well, shoulda, woulda, coulda. What's up with your DB1 score Tommy? I know it was hard and all. Excellent S1 score, however.

For some reason or another a LOT of people were down in driveby.

I was testing on peak hold and would do high 124's with ease. No idea what happened in the lanes though. Everyone else in DB1 either blew fuses or was down as well. Maybe just something with the building. No idea.

The truck has never been that great in driveby. Maybe i'll have to try a new style box next year. :)

And yeah, eric's van was completely insane man. Seeing the video just doesn't do it justice.

Thats how i feel :( I would have beat DB3 by over 3 db easy if i didnt blow a sub the week of finals. Oh well i still have the highest score for the year :D

Eric had an incredible weekend.
Perhaps the most successful World Finals for any one individual.

2 World Championships / MX3: 162dB (World Record) & DB5: 136.7dB (World Record)
2 World Records
Best of Show
Alma Gates Cup

On the way at 3:00 a.m., the van caught fire and was completely destroyed.
It had to be the best and worst weekend at the same time.

I was completely saddened when I heard about eric's van. :(

Luckily brad eubank got the van out of the tow yard so the equipment that could be saved wasn't stolen.

I'm just glad that eric and everyone else is safe. After all the work that eric put into that van, and how successful he had made it, it all ends like that. :(

At least it went out winning and setting some very impressive records in the process. I don't see anyone touching that driveby number for a LONG time. And his name is the first one to be inscribed onto the Alma Gates cup, so there will always be a record of his fantastic numbers.

I talked to him for quite a while.

Pretty nice guy.

Plus, he's a Ben Milne friend.

Eric,

Drive by scores were down. But I do agree you should have been there along with the rest of team daily. :D

seems like so many low tuned LOUD systems that go up in flame. I think it just shakes stuff loose. I was saddened by the news about eric's van as well. on my new one going to try to find a way to mount the amps on some sort of shock absorbing system
