at only 14,000 tsx, is 300 are out of the question because they will have very high mileage.

Now a WRX, old lexus gs300, would work. And probaly the best a old v6 max with 6 speed manual would work.

go buy a 94-96 honda accord for around 4 grand. probably have like 90000+ miles but honda cars last long with proper maintenance(200,000 miles or more) Use the rest of the money for stereo, security.......

X2 on the Maxima, 2002 or 2003 with the 3.5L and a 6-speed, older body style perfect right there. How about a Pontiac Grand Prix GT or GTP.

if you wanted to go for a 2dr, I saw a couple Nissan Skyline GT-R R32s on ebay for not much over 14k..........

or you can buy a different car, preferably a nissan, and swap a JDM Nissan RB26DETT into it, a few mods, and you have a balls-*** fast car for 14k

02-03 Acura TL Type S. Find one with under 100k miles as there is warranty for the tranny problem up to 110k miles. Not all of these had those problems though. Maxima is nice too.

Nissan Maxima. I love the 95-2000 models. Wonderful looking and driving cars.

Reliable too.

+1 on a late 90's maxima.

Unless you're looking from something newer, look at the 02-03 3.5L altima as well.

97/98 maxima can be had for less than ur budget with a 3.5 motor swap.

True, also has the option of getting turbo slapped on as well. The 3.5 swap alone will be pretty quick, toss in a T3/T4 or To4e & you're talking very fast.

OR, you could just buy something thats reliable and invest the rest of the $ into something that doesnt depreciate.

Took the words right out of my mouth. You could also find a limited slip differential and 5 speed prelude tranny if need be (the limited slip makes a world of difference for traction and handling). If you don't want to go the engine swap route, then you can always buy a turbo kit for about 3 grand and spend the rest on suspension and rims/tires, exhaust, etc.

A bit under a grand and you can run high 13s. I just sold mine for about 11k. It's heavy, so autocrossing it takes a bit more thought, but it is definitely a fun car and much nicer than most anything close to it in that price range.

havn't read any responses yet, but a used in good condition (<50kmiles) will cost at least in the 18,000 range. not sure its a car you wanna work on, there's not much clearance in the doors and wires are a ***** to fit in the compact space.

97-99 TL-S maybe :D?

my mom's 03 blew the tranny at 130k. The dealership replaced it for free and didnt charge labor even thought it was out of warranty though. Deff. a fast car tho. Take traction control off and it will leave long black strips on the pavement :)

Id look for a wrx. They can be had for 14k, and arent expensive to make fast becuase they already have a turbo.

go with a honda civic. what could be more reliable than that. if maintained, the car could go well beyond 200,000 miles. also, you could do major modifications to a honda civic and it have almost limitless aftermarket parts and performance boost.

And you're looking at BMW and Audi?

The best sports sedans for $14k are going to be Nissans or Hondas. Accord, TSX, Maxima, Altima. That's the most fun AND reliability you're gonna get for $14k, with 4 doors.

98-00 Ford Contour SVT 200hp and 200tq. Front wheel drive. 5-speed. Descent gas mileage. But if your looking to mod the car i wouldn't really get this, cuz SVT modded the motor so heavily from the facotry that bolt ons do basically nothing, so if you wanna make any kind of big power gains you have to forced induction.

And seriously, with the Prelude-swapped Accord? Just stop. You people don't even deserve to own a car, much less advise someone on what car to get.

If your still looking for a car...

I would say 1994-1998 Saab 9000 Aero, has 225hp stock, could easily gain more with some ECU upgrades. More than enough has room for the family, big hatch space to fit some subs & the power to run up agains swapped civic & maybe some WRXs or evos.

4 door sports car....is that not an oxymoron?

No.. That award goes to the H22 powered Accord idea. If you're doing a motor swap, you're doing it for significant power gains and/or the potential bolt-on power upgrades. The H22 is not a route to take for such a goal considering they were made with F22's in that era. If you must go older Honda 4-cylinder performance, it's a BxxC series motor. ;) VTEC is nothing more than a valve timer. Hundreds of vehicles come with them. Don't throw out a suggestion just because Honda makes the H22 with VTEC and Nissan 'only' has NVCS. ;)

i see people suggesting caprices/ impalas......but ima a ford man so i say go for a merc. marauder.........its 4door, its very aggressive looking w/ dual exaust and 17" wheels stock, and its packing a 4.6 dohc under the hood!!! same as stangs and lincoln mark8's (what i dream for). you may have to either go up on your budget or haggle a little but it is worth the room, luxury, and performance all in one car.

I'm going to go with the Subaru Impreza 2.5RS or 2.5i. You can get them for 14,000 or less depending on your area (The more snow your area gets, the higher a premium they will hold). Heck, if your into cars, get an old Impreza L with a 5 speed for 4K. Buy an STi engine with ecu, trans, intercooler, radiator, etc.... for roughly 5k total. Your at $9,000. Now, buy a full Sti Dash processing unit and retrofit to dash. That's about another 300$. Go to local machine shop, have custom exhaust mandrel bent for >500$. Buy appropriate Drive axles, driveshaft. (All these things can be found on NASIOC.com classifieds usually for dirt cheap!). Swap in some aftermarket suspension goodies, SSR Type-C 16x7 with Some Goodyear Eagle F1's, and you have a car that will walk all over stock Evo's and STi's on the straights or on the track for sub 14,000$.

That's alot of work, but if I had 14K to use towards a car that wasn't financing, I would do this in a heartbeat. The weight you save between the 2.2Liter Impreza versus the new STi is staggering when it comes to performance.

Also, Subaru is highly known for engine reliability and the Dogbox STi tranny is in bed with the Dogbox Rally stuff. Subarus are REAL easy to work on without any annoying engine bay trays or weird bolts to worry about. Oil changes are ridiculously easy, starter is easy to access, differential are easy, getting to transmission is easy. Only semi hard part is pulling the heads off because they are horizontal *** opposed to vertical or slanted.
