So let me get this straight, last week your buddy buys a POS DSM that breaks down on the way back from buying it and this week you buy another POS DSM that the tranny dies on the day after you buy it?

You two should combine your two cars and create one working car.

I bet none of you people are fit to own a DSM. The transmissions in them are not ******. It's the people who don't know how to drive that break ****. When he rebuilt the motor and trans, did he put a new clutch in? You weren't even through the break-in period yet, and I bet your dumb *** was doing 5k clutch dumps? "It's AWD, it can take it".
If you bit on the fact that it has a "Galant VR4 motor", then you apparently don't know **** about them. The motor is a 4g63. The same motor that comes in the 2.0 DSMs, with the exception of the 420a powered ones. That motor also came in several Hyundai cars as well.

And Air_odie, the 'stages' of a DSM are created by independent manufacturers. It's not like an SRT-4 that has factory stages. You could be calling a stage 3, because you had a CM Stg III clutch. Don't be so vague. You had a poorly taken care of, high mileage, daily beaten, piece of **** car. DSMs are one of those cars that take a special owner, and special knowledge to own. It should have been a red flag that a TSi with a "freshly rebuilt engine/tranny" would very EASILY sell for well over $1700. Without even trying... Scan and post those receipts, lets see if we can find the corners they cut in the rebuilds to get the costs down? And by the way, the paint is hideous. But you're gonna Wal-Mart primer it, so you much me 'TEH SUPAR 1337 JDM MAD TYTE T00NAR"...

hah thats just funny. I've done the DSM thing twice and had some unfortunate luck with a few things but didn't blow a tranny. Had a Galant VR4 with a Shep stage 3 tranny, it held up fine while I had it. Seeing as how there are so many T3/T4 hybrids around, whats the specs on the one you're going with?

got it moving again made it 20 miles and the motor wont start again ****ing pile

but tomorow im going to look into it more

in the next month ill be putting a big 16g turbo on with 650 injectors and a walbro 255lph fuel pump along with the fmic and piping a air fuel controller and a couple parts off a 2g talon for a little upgrades should be running 25 psi in a month or so

now im debating if i want to put 2 small 10's or 8's in it not sure though

If you are putting another stock trans in it then you are going to have problems again. Like said they **** stock. You go puttin big turbo, exh, etc on it and say goodbye to it. Esp a used trans that you dont know the shape of. Take one of the trans and send it to someone who actually knows these cars very well and have them rebuild the trans. They are quick cars stock but as soon as you start upgrading and breaking things it costs tons of money.

You shouldn't have to finesse a tranny to get it to last.... they should be built to take punishment. I beat the hell out of my mustang and accord trannys and they never gave me a hint of a problem. My friends have always had better luck with chrystler trannies by adding an external cooler. However, we don't do 60' times or speed or do any of those kinds of things.

My current vehicle is rated at 10 seconds 0-60 time, so i wont be worrying about such things either. Although i do have an external oil cooler as well, so im safe regardless.

There was a pesky civic racing around trying to be king **** the other night while me and the ball and chain were minding our own business. I have a feeling i could've took it. If not i could've always rammed him off the road.

91 awd tsi talon galant vr4 motor and transmission freshly rebuilt

I wouldn't have paid $5 for that car. I had one before, and loved it. Until **** started breaking, first it was the valve seals, it was using more oil than gas. That was only $600 to fix. Then the CV joints went out twice, I did them myself so all together i think that was around $500. Then the transmission went, it was $1996 to get repaired.... Oh and all of this happen in the 18 months that I had the car. I sold it for $1800 (this was in 1996) and the people I sold it to had nothing but trouble. I know the tranny went for a second time, and they had to get something else fixed that was around 1k. Those cars are absolute crap. Oh the most important part... The car had under 80k miles on it.

Hey I beat on my Focus pretty good and it runs as strong as they day I took it off the lot. Actually it runs stronger being I have done a couple mild mods to it. This guy just don't spend his money the right way.

GrnZ28 that is one of the nicest 1g's ive seen, love the b+w paint... also, like the idea of using 2g eclipse wheels (re: the op's car). I miss my talon :( and i agree that they are good cars if you don't drive them like an idiot and know how to take care of them

tomorow i will be ordering a fmic new blow off valve new injectors and a t3/t4 turbo along with a full 3" exhaust from turbo back
huh, none of that ever got here did it?

i only bought it because i got a good deal and have a warranty on the motor with receipts that equal more than i payed for the car the motor and tranny only have 50 miles on them
warranty on the motor huh? is that why it is sitting next to your garage not working

soon no camera
bullshit is all

anyone know where i can get primer from cheap? wal mart or something like that for the outside of the car
thats the dumbest fuckin question I've ever heard, If anyone didn't already know you were completely retarted, that just convinced them.

well i just bought a new shell with a new tranny so ill be puttin my motor into that one after work today so hopefully all goes well
that is the coolest thing I've ever heard you say. I wanna know how you bought the same shell and tranny that I own and have had for 3 months. You're gonna put a motor in yourself, you gonna just pick it up and drop it in there or are you gonna go buy a lift first?

got it moving again made it 20 miles and the motor wont start again ****ing pile

but tomorow im going to look into it more

in the next month ill be putting a big 16g turbo on with 650 injectors and a walbro 255lph fuel pump along with the fmic and piping a air fuel controller and a couple parts off a 2g talon for a little upgrades should be running 25 psi in a month or so

now im debating if i want to put 2 small 10's or 8's in it not sure though
constant bullshit, once again, you didn't buy any single one of those things, and never had the car at higher than 10 psi

:suicide::suicide:my head is bad

i cant wait until my court date with the feg that sold me this pos :violent::violent::violent::violent::violent:
court date... yea... didn't ever have that either huh

the talon is going for sale and im looking at a 2002 wrx
hahahahahaha... no you're not ;)

its going up for $2000 with a basically new motor (im still putting all the interior back in)
basically new motor now means you put a used head on it? And having all the interior in the back seat means its getting put back in?

ive rebuilt the motor replaced all the problems and its running and moving strong.

its just sitting next to my garage until it sells

i wouldnt sell it for 2k with a blown motor and bad head its all been redone

HAHAHAHAHAHA running and moving strong!! you're fuckin retarted, after it died the second time all he did was take the motor apart and leave it lay in his garage.

All of these cars are clunkers. I owned one and my friends still buy these things up. They just feel cheap, and make godawful noises at the track. Almost every single one at the strip makes a horrible grinding sound while being shifted. I don't know car audio too well, but I know performance, and while these cars may be decent stock, you either have a stock one for a daily driver, or spend $$$ for a racecar. I think I'll stick to my 10 year old cadillac, still under warranty.

No **** you have to spend money for a racecar. What idiot would by a stock car and expect it to be the fastest at the track. And just because guys cant take care of their car and/or dont know how to shift doesnt mean the line of cars are complete ****. DSM are one of the easiest cars to get fast plain and simple. If you disagree, lets line them up and after I kick ur *** we can tell each other how much we spent on mods

you don' thave to spend that much money for a good fast dsm. get some good used parts for cheap, do the work yourself and you can have a close to 400whp car on pump gas. easy to work on, easy to maintain, cheap parts, what else do you want out of a car?

I wouldn't say easy to maintain as 95% of them are not running more often than not.

19psi

if you know what you're doing they're easy to maintain. i've had 7 of them over the years and none of them ever left me on the side of the road.
the 95% non running ones are the cars bought by idiots who think they can slap performance parts on old non maintained cars with no idea of what they are doing and expect to be able to abuse the **** out of it with no maintenance.
