I recently bought me a 85 Buick Grand National....T-type...I wanted an old school....It has T-tops...The motor has been updated to the intercooled 87 ...with over size turbo...cam...throttle body and Flo master exhaust with numerous other performance features...It is running high 12's how it sits.....and the Grand National is in really good condition overall....only needing some restoration cosmetics ...I just bought some new weather seals for the trunk doors and t-tops...I was curious to others experience with these cars...It seems to be a fun car overall and really gets noticed when I'm driving it....

But yes, they are very fun and quick and most people tend to drool when they see a cherry one. I also love the G-body family hence i drive the 81 Cutlass

It is in my Warehouse right now ...I'm in the process of changing out all the weather gaskets....I've been thinking about maybe putting 24's or 26's on it something with a a lot of chrome and a big lip....

if you change the wheels on that car, I will lose all respect for you :(

I agree that the car should be left the way it is. It looks way better stock then with some aftermarket dressups. The second you put wheels on it, looks and value go down the drain. Also, why throw the power away with big wheels? id restore it to factory condition and maintain the 20g+ value in good shape.

Louisiana_CRX

I may at least chrome plate the factory wheels...they look too plain

I'm gonna repeat what everyone else has said... if you put anything over an 18 inch rim on that, you really are totally disrespecting that car to the max. That needs a nice small oldschool rim with some fat mickey T's on the back.

Man I wish I had one. My room mate in college got his new in 1987. Still has it in his garage with around 50,000 miles on it. Only a few mods, just enough to run around a 13 flat in the 1/4.

were you really going to put 24's on a gn? there made to go fast dude... put 24's on a cutlass or regal,

my neighbor has a GN which he keeps a car cover ontop of in his garage at all times, he brings it out like once a month just to start it and rev it up some... sounds like a demon escaped from hell when he steps on the gas... dident they run like 13's from the factory?

You can make a Donk or scraper out of near about anything it isn't limited to one type of car....The G-bodys are quite popular...maybe because it is a G-body

It kills me when these young kids get the cars like 94-96 impala ss and grand nationals and great american cars that are going to be collectors cars in the future, and just muck them up with the big ugly wheels, chrome this and chrome that(engine is ok). Dont disrespect these cars like that. Buy a honda or toyota or other import and muck it up all u want. Just put the classic in the garage.

put 20s on it at most and just clean it up maybe some window tint to make it look sharp. there are a couple people around here with them. If i had the money i would definately get one. i want me a taurus sho too just for the fun of it

why? to some an old american car is just that.. an old american car. i would take a classic benz orjag over any crap us "collector" car:rolleyes: The main point is this- not everyone has the same taste. Some people find the honda/toyota/import cars to be a much more attractive vehicle than some bloated american shi.tbox. (and i drive a "big 3" vehicle..

Do you mean take off the motor driven fan for the intercoooler? the fan up front is electric:confused: As far as front mount intercooler goes I personally don't like the looks of them on the grand nationals you can get upgraded intercoolers that go in the stock location that do alot better of a job that's what I'm going to do.

front mounts can make a huge difference in HP but are a biotch to plumb in.....i would go with a mies stretched stock location IC much easier to install , but you wont get the same performance gains as a front mount

although a front mount IC looks means as hell sittin behind a 87 GN grille:up2somet:

if you want to upgrade your cooling system try a 3rd gen camaro radiator and 98-02 intrepid dual electric fan setup......youll drop @ 15-20 deg in water temp

I may look into that...Mine has the 87 motor swap...and grill :) So this is something I'll really consider....I haven't had the chance to work on it much latly....I'm trying to figure out the replacement door top and trunk rubber....hopefully I'll have that swapped soon...:)

Slap some 24's on it and paint lime green. They you can come up to Akron and ball with the crack heads. Seriously dude you obviously got money, quit doing dumb **** with it. A GN on 24's? Your insane. repaint it black, build up the engine some more and run it like it was meant to be driven. Don't get me wrong though, theres nothing wrong with big wheels, but your ruining a beautiful ride man. Nice car. :)

WOW! Poor GN! I almost want to buy it to give it want it desires most! To be driven like I kicked the devil in the balls and was running for my life! I can't believe you would want to put big *** rims on a GN! I lost a lot of respect for you dude. Amazing!

Sell that car to someone that knows what to do with those cars.

Why not put Audiobahns in the trunk to match the rest of the chrome? He'd be ballin then!

You must not understand how bad that looks. That was a fast *** car in the 80's and your simply destroying the image with those ****ing ugly *** ghetto rims. I really don't understand your reasoning? Their not impressive and your not impressing anyone with a wanna be hood ride. Put some slicks on it and upgrade the motor. Christ man, have some class.

The motor has a lot of upgrades...its an 85 with the 87 intercooled motor...the motor has oversize turbo...cam....throtle body...fuel pump and flowmaster duals....

And soon to have ugly *** rims. Waste of a nice car, although I will say the stock interior is ugly as ****.

I owned an '87 for about 10 years, ran a best of 11.40 on 100 octane. Fun *** car back in the day...

Centerline Warriors look very nice on those cars with big & littles on it, that's what I ran.

Those rims are pathetic. Get some Cragar SS's or keep the ones you got on there now.

Thats a good way to ruin the look of a sick muscle car man, honestly why would you even have done that.

Not trying to be a **** but thats NOT the car you do that stuff to.

Well why would you get a grand national when you could have just gotten a regal put the hood on it painted it black then raped it with the ghetto wheels and interior? Would have been much cheaper and wouldn't be ruining one of the greatest muscle cars off all time.

First learn, then post! He didn't used to be this way. See his cars in his AVATAR? Ok, now STFU!

CRX man, I don't know if this is a big joke to show off your money or what, but for the love of god, just sell that car to someone who will know what to do with it. I honestly didn't know you were like this with the other cars you have had.

Please tell us it is just a joke!
:crap:

I don't care if you did this **** to a cutty, hell I had 20's on my cutty and tvs and a huge sound system in it, but was just a cutty to cruise in. Your doing that to a classic car mang and is not cool................at all!

We know you have a lot of money and the whole showing it off is getting kinda old.

I'll probally just sell the 20's here local and keep the staggered 18's on it...They look pretty good...as far as interior...I'm thinking about redoing it in the original colors but in leather....I'm gonna talk to some upholstery shops to see if they can match the seat and door stitching pattern...I may go with a burgundy piping to off set them a little....from the standard black and grey
