i did a search and found nothing. i am looking for a good set of 6x8s with or without amp. i have subs so i am looking for them to be more loud than bass. when i searched people kept suggesting switching to 6 1/2s, but thats not an option for me. i need two sets of speakers and id like to keep it under 250 for both sets.

thanks,
jeff

why is switching to a 6.5 not an option?

All you have to do is make a 6.5 speaker ring out of MDF

I highly recommend it, but they'll do fairly decent off hu power.

it looks like the HA740 amp matches up with the rev's, how do you feel about that setup? do you know where i can look at prices for these amps?

thanks,
jeff

I got the REV 6.5's and they're amazing even off of HU power. Despite being a silk dome tweeter, it is still incredibly bright and loud.

Are you wanting a 4 channel amp for all 4 6x8's or just the fronts?

If you have that much money, why not do it right and get a "wow" system... get Rockford 6X8" T series components for the front, a four channel amp, and one or more subwoofers:

Another best bang for the buck amp: Panasonic... they have a 4-channel that is capable of 700 watts RMS into 2 ohms for around 100 clams.

Cheap but good sound quality subs (low power): credencespeakers.com - click "clearance corner"

Then all you need is a box for the sub(s) and install.

I'm assuming you have an after market radio with pre-amp outs (RCA's)... you really need that for an amp for sound quality.

You don't need rear speakers if you have good front ones and a sub.

^ agreed with Gary 100%.

But if you want just the 6x8's....
Aside from the Profile amp (http://www.millionbuy.com/prfap1040.html), check out this Kicker amp (http://www.hifisoundconnection.com/Shop/Control/Product/fp/vpid/1422517/vpcsid/0/SFV/30046/order/asc/order_by/title). hfsc is an authorized kicker refurb dealer, so if anything goes wrong you can send it straight to Kicker for service. There have been a few positive posts about kicker refurbs from hfsc.

No worries. If you want a really good sounding system (clarity and quality), then focus on the fronts and spend your money there. With a strong front stage, it's likely you won't even need or want a rear stage when a substage is present.

Since you stated $250 or less for speakers and $150 or less for an amp, how does this look to you?

Comps:
T1682S (http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=14415) $249 shipped
* or *
Kappa 680.7cs (http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=15373) $179 shipped (these are 2 ohm speakers)

Amp:
PG Xenon X100.2 (http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=14133) $169 shipped (a little more than budget, but these are awesome, awesome amps)

Agreed with Deja and Gary all the way!!

Stick to any of those speakers listed(Pioneer/Infinity/RF) And any of the amps, that PG that Deja recommended is a pretty solid 2ch amp!

Just run fronts amped and then some subs and you'll be set!!

But you never answered my question from an earlier post, why are 6.5s not an option??

Just so you know, every Jensen flip out I have installed or sold sounds like **** in my opinion. I dont know what the actuall distortion level on the preouts are but I would bank on it being high

I ran one for a while and it was no SQ unit, but it didn't sound half bad :fyi:

I always found that at lower volumes they were fine but as soon as I started to push them at all everything went to hell
