Heres some pics of my build of BIB's for the Eminence 12LTA driver and a Fostex FT17 tweet. It takes 5 sheets of ply for the two enclosures, 6'3"x20"x30" rough dimensions.

On to the pics *More will come as I finish the other one*

You live in a lumberyard dude? :)

ballstothewall
07-30-2007, 10:30 AM
Nope, no lumberyard, just the toys in the woodshop. :)

I have the other coffin complete, have to wait till I move them for pics of the pair though.

Are you going to be buried in these speakers?

ballstothewall
07-30-2007, 01:45 PM
LOL, nope, not going to be buried in them, they are just bigger than coffins.

Got them hooked up in my upstairs... All I can say is

Oh

My

God...

These speakers completely utterly dominate, with the space they take up and the low end they pump out. They get painful loud with UNDER 100 watts, I'm powering them with an ART SLA-1 amp and I can't turn it up all the way, I can't take it. The low end on these is just unreal, feel it in the chest, in the floor, in the walls, its just nuts.

I don't think they turned out to bad for the build time being roughly 24hrs (that includes sleep)

Preamp: Behringer T1953 :(
Crossover: DCX2496
CD player: Oppo
Amps: ART SLA-1, QSC 1.0HV, QSC CX902
Power Conditioner: Adcom 515 (I think thats the number)

*With these BIB's its only the ART SLA-1 and a 5 disk Sony CD changer*

If these things stay in the house I've got a vacuum tube amp that has their name written all over it.

Then again I might try selling them on facebook as the loudest party speakers in Manhattan, which I'd like to see something top them.

Or I may put them at home in the woodshop as the sound system there.

so the port is firing directly into the roof?

do you have a link to the subwoofers? i might want to try something like that (im a home audio noob)

ballstothewall
07-30-2007, 02:44 PM
They aren't subs, Eminence 12LTA coax PA driver, freq response up to ~8khz.

If your a complete home audio noob, don't build these. They are to f'ing big and massive for any remotely sane person to try. :)

If your really interested in these, read the thread (ALL OF IT) that I linked to on the previous page.

Would you ship????

hahahhaa.....

Kidding of course, the shipping would be more than the price itself. I think i wanna build some now, how much do they weigh? :D

Balls same question...

Nothing too special in the house... I've got some yamaha NS5's that were given to me that is about the only thing worth mentioning...your basic kenwood 100x4 receiver and a sony 5 disc carousel in my bedroom...out in the kitchen I've got an old school sansui that is hooked up to some surprisingly ok sounding jensen 3 way tower speakers and in the living room I've got a technics receiver hooked up to a pair of technics 3 way towers and a really funky sub set up which consists of a jl 12W0 in a ported box that is the wrong size for it, running off a 60 watt old school alpine amp which is plugged into the wall via a modified computer power supply with a 20 amp radio shack noise filter and homemade powered crossover...that **** be funkay...like peanut butter on Rye...I will have to get a pic it's very frankenstein.

Edit: Here's a pic of the funky setup...sorry it's very blurry because I hadthe camera on the wrong distance setting...

Thanks in Advance.Full Horn enclosures are always large. Most of the enclosure is nothing but a horn throat that increases it's throat area along the way. This increase in throat area makes the enclosure large.
