Well....my sub blew up awhile ago and after saving some scratch for a velodyne that I liked at Circuit City, finally pulled the trigger. I scored the DPS12 floor model for $200  . Cosmetically, shes perfect, and she didnt get played a lot; a lot of the associates they're told me the polk subs were farrrr superiour, lawl.

But that t'isnt the icing on the cake. While'st walking around I noticed A.) 36 months no interest and B.) an openbox samsung 46" lcd (model LNT4665F) for $2300. After looking at its 40" brother...it hand-down had the best picture; friggin amazing. I asked the guy if he could cut me a deal and viola, he did. After waiting patiently for him to finish his spews about warranty, line conditioning (which I already have, but insisted it was ****) and monster cable (which I already have the THX shiz, lol) he gave it to me for a whoopping $1800

Enjoyz: (no pics of sub...batteries died before I took em)

old setup: (an thats not the velodyne dps, just my phase tech 10")

Dude, dig out your old rabbit ears and hook them up to that set. Look at over the air HD and then come back to post.

Congrats!

Question for some of ya'll...

Power conditioners. Fact or fiction on these things? I can get most monster stuff 1/2 off and I'd need some sort of conditioner/surge protecter for this new stuff. Any recommendations? I'm afraid to ask on AVS cause I'll get reamed for mentioning monster

Partial fact. It is dependant on where you live, but some conditioning and surge protection is good to have.

The monster stuff at cost (50%) is a pretty good deal, it is made well and does what it needs to. If you want to get higher end, PS audio and Richard Grey's Power Company products are very well recieved.

Florida, near water, so its bad. We average 7 above-average surges a day according to Florida Power.

And ya, since I wort at CC, monster is dirt cheap. I got the papers signed for 3 of their 1000 series cables, and one of their beefy power centers. Since I saved $1k off retail, the least I can do is upgrade cables and add recommended pieces.

Its definitly too much for my room...not loudness really, just that it vibrates the hell out of my windows.

From my impressions at the store, it played low with authority but didnt overextend itself; with rap or r/b its was ******. Kept up great with a lot of fast drum kicks, wasnt overbearing and hell, if it is with the push of a button you can turn it down; oboard dsp is a nice touch as well.
