honest opinions/votes on the best comps to handle 200wrms/piece and still sound great. budget is an issue too, so some of the suggested are really pushing it for me.

I voted Bostons because that's what I use and I love them. I have never compared them to any of the others listed, so take my recommendation with a grain of salt. At least I won't recommend speakers that I have never listened to. You may get some of that around here, lol.

I voted for the Pro60's, because of all of the reviews I've read on them that they can easily take anywhere from 150-250w a side without issue.

I personally have my Rainbow CMX 265's running at 200w a side bridged, and they take it great....I just have to keep the gains fairly low.

i voted diamonds... either hex set will make you vary happy... i am running germs right now first time rainbow user... and to be honest the $200 price on the diamonds for me ears sounded better then the $450 rainbows... i would go diamond if i had to do it over again... I have ran the silk and aluminum S600 hex series comps and both were awesome... i also ran them both on 200 watts each.... frickin insane and nice... im seriously considering sellin my germs and goin back to diamonds...

I will be picking up a pair of Focal 165K2P 6.5 ....i've heard some good things about these babies, but only one bad part about them. The lowest i've ever seen them was $563 :( Heard they can produce some massive sound..."concert" like almost

The HEX's ****....

Gotta agree. First had the Diamond Motorsport M6s about 5 years ago and they ******...so I figured upgrade to the HEX series. They ****** too...hours of tuning and just could never get them to sound right.

BUT to each his own. My ears are not yours.

i voted Boston Pro's because they can handle some real power and still sound crystal clear, great midbass as well.

Also check out these P.Gold comps made by Morel Israel.

Those are friggin crazy, a friend of mine had some of those on 400w RMS a side with no problems. You gotta see the voice coil on them though, it's huge. You can tell they can handle a lot of power, lol.

still savin up for the slc kicks, but im starting to get worried i might hurt them with 200w/a piece. theyre only rated at 100w nom. and whats the point in getting the kicks over regular slc? the only dif i see is the kicks have to be broken in and cant play below 80hz...

you get (iirc) +3dB over the non-Kick in the lower mid-bass region.

I voted for the PRS...After reading reviews from people over at DIYMA, and then seeing and hearing the drivers at my local shop, I picked them up. I have yet to install them but I have 100x4 @ 4 that I will be sending them (active setup, im not using the passive crossovers).

I'll be sure to let you know how they sound with that much power.

Yes sir, you do! :)

They will be shipped out tomorrow (Wed). I already voted on this thread, but in order, I'd put the Pro60's on 200w a side, and the right under them, the SLC Kicks.

The SLC Kicks CAN handle 200w a side, you just have to be really cautious with your gain setting(s). When I had my Kicks installed and my amp bridged to give them 200w a side, I had to keep my gain adjustments down on my amp pretty low. You would be happy with the Kicks I think, you'd just have to keep low on the gains, and you'd be fine. If you usually prefer a metal tweeter, though, I'd go with the CMX 265's from Rainbow. I did, and I'm really happy with them.
